Size 12, long slim legs. Bad muffin bits. I have forgotten which high waisted skinny jeans lots of people suggested on here & can't find the thread.

Thank you.

topshop martha good but noy high waisted.

paddingtonbear1 · 12/09/2009 10:26

I just got some skinny jeans from topshop, they are blue with 'patches' on. I have to size up due to chunky thighs but these don't look too bad, no muffin top

paddingtonbear1 · 12/09/2009 10:27

they are these ones

NorbertDentressangle · 12/09/2009 10:35

monkeysmama -I think I've got a similar problem. Do you also find that jeans often have "spare" baggy bits at the sides of the hips/outer top part of leg (saddlebags area I suppose you'd call it)?

I did try some on in Debenhams the other day, so probably Red Herring ones. They were a nice fit around the waist, quite high, but I didn't fill the "saddlebags" and if I'd gone down to a 10 I probably wouldn't have been able to do them up.

hatcam · 12/09/2009 10:55

Oasis Cherry, don't buy them too big as they do stretch.

Another vote for Topshop Martha

If you are feeling seriously flush then look at the J Brand medium rise

NoahAmin · 12/09/2009 10:59

id say marthas were straight though

Molesworth · 12/09/2009 11:24

Are Marthas slim enough to tuck into boots?

harleyd · 12/09/2009 11:31

topshop baxter

tulpe · 12/09/2009 12:34

Marthas definitely slim enough to tuck into boots. However, mine definitely shrank after 6 months and were then muffin-top inducing

NoahAmin · 12/09/2009 12:46

Ot get some jeggings

hairymelons · 12/09/2009 13:33

I still get muffin with Baxters, much as I love then from the thigh down. Might try Marthas next

monkeysmama · 12/09/2009 15:55

I am wearing Baxters now & have less muffin than usual but still an unpleasant roll. I may truths J Brand ones.

Norbert yes! That's just it-that excess material drives me mad. I always thought my hips were in the wrong place but being for saddlebags makes sense. What trousers do you wear?

My favourites have always been Gap Long and Lean jeans but I still have some bagginess with them. The last time I went to Gap though all the sizing and styles had changed -I must have tried on 20 pairs and none fitted. The poor assistant saw me as some sort of challenge and was running off to get all sorts of sizes and styles but ....no joy.

I'm bravely trying skinnies to go with my new, lovely Fly London boots so need some that tuck in and are a very snug fit on the leg but due to skinny legs but not so skinny middle its proving a challenge.

heres some saddlebags (although she is much slimmer around the waist than me the bits on the sides are the bits I think I'm lacking hence the bagginess)

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 12/09/2009 16:05

The £12 M&S jeans were very popular but I have moved on to their £29.50 a pair jeans with a bit of sparkle and they are much nicer.

NoahAmin · 12/09/2009 17:37

norbert
yes htey have redesigned L and L the woman told me

NorbertDentressangle · 12/09/2009 17:41

They're crap now though, don't you think?

The sizings all gone to pot as well since they just used the UK size rather than the US size.

A US 6 was perfect for me but now its either UK 10 (too small) or UK 12 (too big)

Clure · 12/09/2009 17:41

River island skinnies are a great fit

tulpe · 12/09/2009 17:59

how has the L & L been revised?

I love that style - the last pair I bought died just a few months ago having been lovingly faithful for 5 years

Am determined to find the ultimate pair of jeans for me so will do the Selfridges personal shopper thing in January (when DH will be persuaded to part with the necessary in lieu of him shopping for a birthday present ). My feeling is that J Brand mid-rise will be perfect.

paddingtonbear1 · 12/09/2009 18:19

yes I used to wear Gap L&L
when I last went for another pair, the fit had completely changed and was no good for me at all! In fact most of the Gap jeans were no good - except the new 'boy' fit, they are fab.

paddingtonbear1 · 12/09/2009 18:20

In fact Gap sizing used to be great for me in nearly everything
now it's rubbish - and my size hasn't changed very much!

GrapefruitMoon · 13/09/2009 09:08

Re the Gap sizing thing - I have found that Gap Outlet stores still sell the jeans in the original sizing (eg 8 being equivalent of UK 12, etc), whereas the normal stores have them in inches (or they did when I last bought a pair). Got a pair of skinnies the other day and they were accepting the 30% off as well so they only cost around £16! (Most of the stock is probably not current though but fine if you want basics or kids stuff rather than the latest thing.)

NoahAmin · 13/09/2009 09:19

yes gap outlets are very good
stuff often only just left proper stores.
must remember to go soon - Ds used to have a tennis thing really near one.

paddingtonbear1 · 13/09/2009 21:38

ah that is interesting! may need to visit cheshire oaks again.

monkeysmama · 14/09/2009 09:26

I've never heard of any Gap outlet stores? Are there any in London?
