what's the difference between footless tights and leggings?

if the tights are thick denier? because tights are cheaper?

The material. Leggings could be cotton/sequins/wet look whats-a-me-jig etc: footless tights are nylon affairs.

Leggings may also be "cut" or "patterned" different ways.

Also, you can wear leggings with a short t-shirt and it looks fine (well, you know what I mean), but you couldn't walk around with footless tights on and nothing else apart from a t-shirt, you'd look like you forgot to dress your bottom half.

oh interesting, I've always wondered that. So how do you wear footless tights? With a skirt and flats or something?

tights are - err tights
leggings are thicker, cotton, lycra, and imho better cut

and then there are those jeggings or treggings things, which are leggings made of different stretchy material. so also trousers.

my jeggings are too tight round the knees of all places. ouch.
