I've read that purple mascara is flattering for the older / woman.... a: Is this true?
b: I found some in Estee Lauder for £17 but that seems a ridiculous amount of money. Normally I spend a £5/6 on Rimmell Does anyone know of any cheaper purple mascara.
I've googled it but can't find anything suitable

Oh heck - am I really the only person in the world contemplating wearing purple mascara?

you can get cheaper but the pigmentation is not as good

i had a Barry M one - i have green eyes and purple makes them "pop"

you can try a No 7 or a bourjois for a higher quality product

Flamesparrow · 07/09/2009 18:15

I want purple mascara now...

LaurieFairyCake · 07/09/2009 18:16

I have a bright navy one and it's the same effect, makes the whites of your eyes whiter. I got a Bourjois one - they do purple I'm sure.

NoahFence · 07/09/2009 18:20

i dont like it and I like purple on the whole.
You arebetter off with a purple eyeliner - theLancome one in "questsch" ( german for prune) is V good for green or hazel eyes

AuntieMaggie · 07/09/2009 18:21

purple is great for green eyes - I used to have one from benefit and they do a plum colour which is £14.50.

urban decay have one for £8.50 and I think avon do too

Flamesparrow · 07/09/2009 18:21

hmmm yes, purple eyeliner sounds less rargh

NoahFence · 07/09/2009 18:22

i think the mascara dosnt give enough COLOUR definition.
other good eyeliners are Estee lauder( or is it arden) in graphite

southeastastra · 07/09/2009 18:23

Yes, I wear a plum colour.....its an YSL one and costs £20 which is pricey but totally worth it IMO.

nouveaupauvre · 12/09/2009 20:19

i've got one, it sounds like a horrendous idea but it doesnt look very purple on and it makes green eyes look amazing. it was recommended in a posh pre wedding makeup lesson and i was very dubious but am now convinced
it was YSL but loads of people do them

Elemental · 13/09/2009 22:59

Not mascara, but Rockstar eyeliner by Urban Decay is a lovely dark purpley colour and flattering.

TigerDrivesAgain · 13/09/2009 23:02

Strangely, Clarins usually do really good purple mascara - about £15 or so and usually called "plum". They go well with green eyes.
