Flat / Low heeled boots questions...

My old pair of flat ankle length boots are far too holey to be used again this winter (should have been replaced last year really). So I've been looking at boots online as the thought of going to the shops and trying loads on is making me feel ill!

Tehy must be flat / low heeled as I'm tall and wobble too much in heels!

I've never had knee length boots so don't tend to wear skirts in winter (not sure how much I would do so if I had longer boots). If you have longer length boots so you need skinny jeans to tuck in? or would I be able to wear my bootleg cut jeans?

Would I be better off with ankle length ones again?

I'm sure I've read that the fashion police say black boots aren't supposed to be worn with jeans, but does it matter?!

Would suede be silly? I do lots of walking and will need to wear them whatever weather happens for the school run (have wellies for when it's really bad!)

Cowboy boots?! I've never had any and have a yearning. Tell me now if I'm being too silly for words....

Someone take pity on me and tell me what I want!

suede is indeed silly, ditto cowboy boots

I have short boots for under jeans and long boots for skirts, but there' snothign stopping you wearing lon gboots under botocut jeans (you need long socks though else they rub)

atm my short boots are Clarks (jodhpur boot style with fleecey goretex lining, yum) but have had previosu success with Wrangler Spencers

oh and I always get brown - I wear much more brown than black, suits me much better

bumpybecky · 02/09/2009 15:40

thanks MrsBadger so suede and cowboy boots are off the list, sudede cowboy boots doubly so

My last pair were Clarks too, so I've been looking at their website but it won't let me buy more than 3 styles at once how frustrating! I might have to do several orders 9P&P is free at the moment to make up for it.....

Off to google for Wranglers next

I have just this minute bought a pair of flat, squaretoed black ankle boots to replace last years- as I have big feet, they were from a specialist shop, and I nearly bought some dressy ankle ones with a small heel, but showed restraint.
Bootcut jeans do not look right tucked in- I'd stick with some nice ankle ones.

second the bootcut jeans in long boots thing, they bunch up, you have to kind of wrap the leg around inside a long sock - better with skinny jeans.
I wear long black boots with skinny jeans, (blue or grey) and I think it looks ok

MrsBadger · 02/09/2009 18:22

no no wear your long boots under bootcut jeans like I said below

certainly do nto tuck them in

I'm on the hunt for low heeled ankle boots to wear with jeans too! Looks like I'll have to do some of my own googling .

i love suede, so long as you treat it and it has enough of a sole to keep from getting really soggy it is entirely practical.

i walk everywhere too and this also makes a substantial sole essential - no feeble dolcis efforts so yes clarks is good.

can't get my foot into cowboy boots but they are strangely practical.

bumpybecky · 02/09/2009 20:57

well seeing as how Clarks won't sell me more than 3 styles at once, I've decided to attempt to actually go into the shop with two small people in tow once the older two go back to school tomorrow!

in the meantime, I've ordered....

these which I suspect will be a bit high for me

and these which look terribly sensible

neither is very fun or exciting though, so I ordered these too which say leather, but the reviews say suede, will have to wait and see what turns up. Perhaps one boot is leather and the other is suede....
