Inspired by another thread - what quick fixes make you feel and look good?
How do you look good when there is no real time to dedicate to yourself?

When my hair is having one of those days i pop it in a pony tail or simple bun and feel instantly better.

Clinique facial powder is also the best. My friend is a beauty editor and gets everything for free but this is the one thing she swears by and pays for out of her own pocket. works a treat and evens out skin and takes 2 secs to apply.

Also a bit of lippy - be it gloss or colour.

Go to poundland.

runnyhabbit · 02/09/2009 12:35

Paint toenails while dc are in bath. (they are 4 & 2, so occupy themselves)
Ditto eyebrows.
Use tinted body moisturise after shower.
Once a month get everything waxed (this has proven so save me time and money)
Have had my haircut so it looks styled when left to dry naturally (still blowdry fringe though, lol)

Stigaloid · 02/09/2009 12:38

Also - weirdly i always feel better once i have brushed my teeth. It is amazing the boost that minty fresh breath can give you!

skihorse · 02/09/2009 12:42

Check out the weather report a few days in advance so that the outfit you've chosen (in advance) is appropriate for that day and you don't have to sit at your desk shivering/sweating.

Make sure all work clothes are washed on a sunday.

deaddei · 02/09/2009 12:42

Hair free legs (yes even in winter!), toes painted, exfoliate skin- gives an instant glow.

clemette · 02/09/2009 12:43

Mine would be this
It is so quick and I find it gives better coverage than any foundation I have used.

even just one little coat of mascara makes a naked face more polished.
If my eyes were not so highly sensitive, I'd have eyelashes dyed.

Bleh · 02/09/2009 12:48

Cut nails, massage oil into cuticles and paint with clear polish. Takes about 10 minutes to do, makes your hands look manicured and lasts for a while. It was a tip I got from MN actually

Pinner35 · 02/09/2009 12:54

Always use eyelash curlers and I can recommend YSL mascara. And NEVER wear black mascara...its ageing (apparently). Use a colour that is the opposite in the colour spectrum to your eyes (so for blue eyes, brown mascara - green eyes, purple mascara, etc.) It will make your eyes look fab.

LolaLadybird · 02/09/2009 13:39

I have my eyebrows waxed and tinted and eyelashes tinted every few weeks. I have a fair complexion with short, fair eyelashes so this makes a big difference and means no need to apply any eye make up. I have a home beautician do it so it doesn't cost too much and is worth every penny.

As for nails, Tesco's Barbara Daly range has a great nail polish called Goodbye Yellow which is designed to get rid of staining from coloured nail polishes but is just a great look anyway (goes on clear, give nails a pinkish hue).

civilfawlty · 02/09/2009 13:42

asprin facial. cheap and quick and better than any £100+ treatment I have ever had.

bethdivine · 02/09/2009 13:56

facial moisturiser with a hint of fake tan - I use olay and get it in boots whenever i get one of their £5 off vouchers so it's around £12.

only keep clothes in wardrobe i actually wear and that make me feel good - everything else still packed away out of sight till preg weight gone.

only buy clothes needing no ironing - floaty tops are brill - and flattering over post preg bump i still have

compact foundation quicker to apply and if limited time, then just mascara and blusher gives skin a boost - esp. on such little sleep

beauty flash balm

dd screaming, will return if think of any others

bethdivine · 02/09/2009 14:12

oh, i leave a nail file in the bathroom and try and do just one nail whenever i go in there.

if hair is a bit out of control, spray hairspray onto brush, before brushing hair.

dry shampoo

mini make up bag, brush & mini hair spray or serum for work incase you don't manage anything before leaving house

serum in bathroom next to brush - usually DD or DS need something by the time i'm out of the shower so i put this on hair straight away, then it doesn't kink quite so badly when it dries naturally (most days!)

clemette · 02/09/2009 14:49

lol I have a nail file in the car in case I get stuck in a traffic jam.

Does that aspirin thingy really work?

OP posts:
bethdivine · 02/09/2009 14:53

well they do say that if they discovered aspirin today it would never get a license as they have discovered so many things it can do just as side effects!

civilfawlty · 02/09/2009 14:54

seriously - its incredible!

mollyroger · 02/09/2009 15:49

for no-make wearers - teeniest amount of vaseline on cheekbone defines bone and makes skin look healthy

mollyroger · 02/09/2009 15:50

make-up

Stigaloid · 02/09/2009 16:28

Oh i also forgot - blusher! My friend (beauty editor) swears by it. Never leave without blushing up your cheeks - makes a huge difference in 2 secs.

A bit of serum as soon as I wake up makes me feel/look instantly 'perkier' - at the moment it's Olay Regenerist but I love Origins White Tea one too.

Blusher. A bit of mascara. Even I look almost human for an hour or so then.

B1984 · 02/09/2009 18:12

have shower, put some tanning moisturiser after(i quickly dry myself with a hairdryer),moisturise your face well(massage the cream properly),put some natural make-up(foundation,blusher,mascara,lipbalm),nice perfum.i do my finernails night before in a neutral color.P.s.i don`t straighten my hair,i wash it,blow dry it and put some hair serum to smooth out the ends(it also smells lovely).

purplepeony · 02/09/2009 20:01

Re-applying some blusher, touching up under eye concealer (Bobbi Brown) and adding lip gloss.

Other tips- quick spray of perfume and clean teeth.

vacaloca · 02/09/2009 20:11

B1984 - what sort of serum do you put after blow drying?

clemette · 02/09/2009 23:51

bump
