before we found a pair that fit her. 20. In seven different shops. And that's not counting the many pairs she didn't bother to try on because we could see they would float off her. We were both utterly shattered by the end of it. How hard is it to make school trousers to fit a normal sized 12-year-old ffs? She isn't even particularly tall (about 5'1) but everything was either too short in the leg or so large in the waist that they wouldn't stay up.
In the end I spent a fortune in Top Shop (well, £44) on two pairs of size six petite women's work trousers that fit beautifully.

Ah yes I feel your pain.

DD has been in summer dresses for ages but school skirts are a nightmare - if they are anywhere near fitting round the waist they are stupidly short - ie sized for a 5yo (she's 8).

She's not very tall either, among her peers at least. Obviusly a lot skinnier than she's "supposed" to be tho
