Tank Tops - who suits them?

I bought a knitted one recently and am not sure about it.

However, I have a cottony fitting one too and I like it.

Is it possible to wear knitted tank and not look a tool?

I quite like feeling tight and boxy.

I don't like feeling all flappy and boxy

i love mine with a smart tailored shirt n trousers on. woollen ones thou not fabric ones.

CybilLiberty · 28/08/2009 20:31

Round neck or v neck? That is the question

dogofpoints · 28/08/2009 20:33

deep scooped round neck, without a doubt

I have one of both but prefer the v neck thou.

I have one from Coast, plain black with a deep scoop neck and a pleated detail. Tis very nice for work over a long sleeved top. I don't wear it with shirts as I look silly in collars - a shame because I think they look really cute over quite puffy-sleeved shirts.

God I have loads.

A lovely deep scoop neck from White COmpany.

Couple of coloured ones from Brora.

No v-necks though.

etc etc

With a shirt and nice trousers for work. With long sleeved t-shirts and jeans for non-work.

Slightly went off them when that bird on the Apprentice wore them all the time.

But now can't wait for slightly chiller weather to wear them again.

Oh I have practically no norks btw.

MrsBarbaraKingstanding · 28/08/2009 21:09

I have great big tits but no hips (not as good as it sounds) I can't wear baggy tops as I look permanently pregnant, but can just about get away with a fitted tank, if it's a low scop neck and with long sleeve T underneath.
I've tride the shirt look under but seems all bumpy with the buttons etc sp prefer the smooth fitted look.

I have a fair bit of norkage but quite lean elsewhere and as long as the material is quite fine, it doesn't come up to the collar bone, or hang loose at the bottom, then it suits my shape. I tend to wear fitted long tshirts underneath, like the ones from uniqlo and quite mannish, wide leg trousers. Friend who has a Betty Boop figure avoids them as they emphasis hips and shorten her waist.

dogofpoints · 28/08/2009 22:10

I think the best tanks for me would have a very deep wasit band

I like them, but I don't have much boobage. I used to have a navy one, worn with dark jeans and a white t-shirt with a dangly necklace it looked slightly more interesting than jeans and t-shirt.

Inspired by this thread, I bought a nice grey one in M&S today - only 12 squid.

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 29/08/2009 17:11

That sounds like the one I got, janeite but I got the black one. Is still in the bag though.

janeite · 29/08/2009 17:17

This is it I think. It has detailing on the shoulders but you can't see it v well on that pic.

bamboostalks · 29/08/2009 17:22

They look fab on little girls, my boobs are too big really for me to wear one. I find them very hard to source though. I always buy them for dd if I can but hardly ever see them. There is one in Monsoon atm but it is white lambswool and that would be heartbreaking to see it destroyed...am tempted though!

dogofpoints · 29/08/2009 19:54

mm, that one's quite nice, jane
