Are velvet bootlegs a good buy for winter parties or just old hat?

And what to wear with??

Velvet trousers not generally a good look in my opinion - can add bulk and also not terribly fashionable.

Velvet jacket better with jeans (dark smartishe ones).

MissisBoot · 27/08/2009 20:52

no no no - just awful, sorry.

IwoulddoDrWho · 27/08/2009 20:53

I thought you might say this.

Yes agree, definately not a good look. As traceybath says, velvet super-fitted jacket much better idea.

RamblingRosa · 27/08/2009 21:14

Sorry but velvet trousers sound very bad.

RamblingRosa · 27/08/2009 21:14

Sorry but velvet trousers sound very bad.

RamblingRosa · 27/08/2009 21:14

didn't mean to say it twice though

SausageRocket · 27/08/2009 21:15

velvet trousers are a no no

LetThemEatCake · 27/08/2009 21:17

absolutely not. And especially not with an old hat!!

sequinned leggings absolutely essential for this A/W, however.

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 27/08/2009 21:18

This has reminded me I have a black velvet jacket. Is that a no no or can I wear it with blue jeans?

LetThemEatCake · 27/08/2009 21:19

depends on colour and style of the jeans ... would be better with sequinned leggings...

Jewelsandgems · 27/08/2009 21:21

And the lapels of the jacket.

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 27/08/2009 21:21

No way do I have the figure for leggings.

Jeans are blue and bootcut.

LetThemEatCake · 27/08/2009 21:35

oh, g'wan. G'wan. You know you can pull it off

I had a fantastic velvet jacket which I bought from a charity shop for a pittance when I was about 17. It was beautifully made and in fantastic condition (I doubt it had ever been worn by the previous owner). I loved it but somehow it got lost in our last house move (3.5yrs ago). Ho hum.

NotanOtter · 27/08/2009 21:44

i bet they could look fab....some great sheer top ,heels...

LetThemEatCake · 27/08/2009 21:48

need a link to a jacket in a similar style/ shape to your velvet one, please

thirtypence · 27/08/2009 21:58

Just seen the price of those leggings! It's not like you could wear them everyday or that they would last terribly well.

SausageRocket · 27/08/2009 21:59

they look appalling on mere mortals.

NotanOtter · 27/08/2009 22:02

i love those leggings
if i were under 40 i would
notice medium has sold out and imo only small or below would look good

IwoulddoDrWho · 28/08/2009 10:05

Thanks for the sequins LTEC but possibly not for me. I accept the rebuke on the velvet trousers but cannot go out in those! Is it still just jeans then?

OP posts:
tulpe · 28/08/2009 12:45

Dare I suggest straight leg velvet trousers? Such as these?

IwoulddoDrWho · 28/08/2009 19:54
