Hi all, have a huge wedding coming up and have bought this dress to wear www.asos.com/Lipsy/Lipsy-Knitted-One-Shoulder-Body-Con-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=650165&cid=150 3&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=-1&sort=-1&clr=Aqua and these www.vivaladiva.com/shop/product/details/show.action?pdLpUid=DM105&pdBoUid=8331&lpgUid=11188744#colou r:3694,size: shoes.
But I fear I am going to look too tarty - does anyone have any suggestions of how I can tone it down or just looked more groomed for once! I need accessories too, like a shawl and bag that go too?
I love the shoes but do you think they ar too much??
Thank you stylish ladies in advance!

i love that one Fimbo, if only it was in sock, I may be running out of time. I like the idea of a long coat untill the evening ( i will need a cover up as it will prob be cold). Am not sure - I asked so obviously have issues with it - will have to hunt in my wardrope for something else or risk feeling like a twat on the day

I like your ideas Laurie too, good plan. I know the dress is tight etc but i do think the combination with the shoes is way past 'too much' any suggestions of coats or shoes or something?

Thank you for all your comments ladies!

I did say I didn't like the shoes! I was just meaning that type of sandally thing to go with the dress I linked to rather than hooker shoes.

h0ney · 26/08/2009 10:59

That is lovely but a wee bit short for me. i don't mind tight but draw the line at tight and short!!

I also have this but it is much shorter - still too much? www.frenchconnection.com/product/womens+Dresses/71XK1/Fast+Bonny+Cotton.htm

I really appreciate the opinions, all my friends and my sister have said it' lovely, fine, appropriate etc etc!

if you still wanted something dramatic and one-shouldered, this would go with the original shoes

MrsBadger · 26/08/2009 11:07

NB if it really is a wedding where that dress would truly be appropriate (and I have seen them), then you may need to ignore us

that french connection one might actually be worse

does it not show your pants?

h0ney · 26/08/2009 11:08

Thanks Korma, good ideas. Am quite breasty so can't be too v necked or too high as I i look likes I have a shelf!

[adjusts hat and tweed suit]

actually I found it by accident while on the 'help, modern african wedding' thread

h0ney · 26/08/2009 11:14

Thank you so much for efforts Korma, they are perhaps too short, but i do love the monsoon one,
and yes Mrs Badger, the fc one may well show my nick nacks.

I think if you are short and it is knee length/just above the knee, you could get away with the dress, if you wear a good jacket/coat, I like the idea of a boyfriend style jacket - but you must feel comfortable on the day, if you are going to wear the outfit all day.

GossipMonger · 26/08/2009 15:51

bump in horror at the OP in tight blue short dress AND big boobs!

but smiling really

Sourdough · 26/08/2009 15:59

As ever, Mrs B hits nail on head. The dress should be avoided at all costs. Queen Rania would even look like a stripper in it, especially with those shoes, All too much. Think 'What would Audrey Hepburn do' when considering wedding attire.

Chandon · 26/08/2009 18:01

I like the dress, esp. if you wear hai like model, and low key make-up.

shoes are a horror though, way too stripper.

Still, wear the dress. No need to go all Laura Ashley if that isn´t normally your style!

brokenspacebar · 27/08/2009 10:26

h0ney - I saw these dresses today, thought they might be good for a wedding, esp with your figure.

Zoom Window&nfr=getflash&vc=image=OttoUK/10K139OLIL red dress, looks pink there but red in picture I saw.

Zoom Window&nfr=getflash&vc=image=OttoUK/26R689OLIL blue dress.
