Do you think this jacket will date quickly?

I saw it yesterday, but wonder if it would date quickly with the ruffles being so "in" now and on this jacket rather prominent.

I actually think it's pretty classic looking

domesticslattern · 21/08/2009 19:15

I don't think it would date quickly, but I can speak from experience that having a high neckline on a jacket isn't especially comfortable or practical. Maybe it depends how heavy the jacket is.

JeMeSouviens · 21/08/2009 20:12

It's not very thick fabric, felt very soft too, it's probably not for the depths of winter. I'd have to try it to see how the collar sits, but I'd imagine not being able to wear a scarf with it.

i'd get too fat to wear it, so would be a waste of money

domesticslattern · 21/08/2009 20:21

In that case I think it's lovely.

MinkyBorage · 21/08/2009 20:22

It's a beautiful jacket, I think that the topshop version would be likely to date pretty quickly, but that is a beauty, and I reckon you'll be pulling it out of your wardrobe long after you've stopped wearing it all the time.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/08/2009 20:22

My friend has a jacket a little like this and unless you have a very swan like neck you end up with make-up all over the collar which is really not a good look.

So, ok for ET but not for normals.

nigglewiggle · 21/08/2009 20:24

It's absolutely gorgeous and I'm not prone to excitement about these things!

yama · 21/08/2009 20:25

Actually, I think it's lovely in the mustard (or 'green ochre' as they are calling it).

Jewelsandgems · 21/08/2009 20:25

I have bigish boobs and look rubbish in polo necks so would not go fo this.

It looks beautiful in the picture though. I don't think it would really date, but agree definately would not be able to wear scarf, unless skinny silky one perhaps, tucked inside the collor and maybe peeking out?

nigglewiggle · 21/08/2009 20:38

You can turn the collar down though - as per the "green ochre" pics.

JeMeSouviens · 21/08/2009 20:42

I do have quite a duck swan neck and do suit polo necks.

I had decided not to buy anymore clothes for awhile as we are moving to a very small town and not sure I'd get the wear out of it. But if we are all agreed it is a classic, then I should at least try it on.

It would be RUDE not to.

Jewelsandgems · 21/08/2009 20:44

Definately try it on :>)

And would be great to wear to the office with a pencil skirt and gorgeous bag!

JeMeSouviens · 21/08/2009 20:51

Unfortunately the only thing I'll be wearing to work for the next year will be t-shirt, jeans and steel cap boots.

I'll try it next week, when I'm next at work then.

Thanks for the opinions, you're like a virtual girlfriend shopper for the sniper shopper.
