MIL - why does she do it?!!

Went round to see her yesterday and she answered the door in a matching cropped trousers and stripey top combo. Now, I know it was v hot yesterday, but MIL in nearly 60 and a good size 20 - and it did not look right. Added to that, I love cropped trousers and have several pairs, and its put me off them - they can't be that young/trendy if she wears them! She put me off combats a few years ago, wearing a 'tailored 'pair.
I know I'm being a meanie, but REALLY!

ooh I like Gap, especially as you feel a size smaller than you are in there

I heard from a lot of people that DP does nice maternity clothes. I think they should probably sack the staff in my local DP as all the mat clothes were just pushed onto one rack and all looked really tatty and tentish. But by the time I reached full term everything looked tentish on me anyway. I wanted one of those nice compact designer bumps but I just exploded and looked like a beached whale

If us over 40's are good enough to mind our grand children and be taken for their mother's well why not wear what we want to wear as long as we don't look ridiculess and tarty. New look is full of cheap tat and yes we do have more money to spend on us just for a change.

Talking of dressing inappropriately. Last night there was a woman standing outside Waitrose wearing slippers, socks, a nightie and a fleecy dressing gown and it was at least 82 degrees. Now whats that all about?!
