Bootcamp 2009 (without WWW :( )

winnie09 · 17/08/2009 08:37

Although it is not the same without WWW et al
some of us felt the need to reignite this bootcamp.

This is week ONE of the new boot camp of 2009. Everyone is welcome.

The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I am at my 'lightest' for over 12 years and am feeling good but still need to lose another 2 stone + to be healthy
I am swimming several times a week which is helping but I drink too much alcohol and need a bit of encouragement. After the end of a long term relationship (finally) & I am 40 in a couple of weeks I need to give myself a kick really. I don't expect to look 30 after 6 weeks it would be good to have a sense of well being

So, where are you all? Here we go again

FabMum1 · 28/08/2009 21:38

This sounds like my kind of bootcamp.
Will start from Monday, as am away at the mo.

winnie09 · 28/08/2009 21:41

hi fabMum1, welcome... see you Monday

Must mention I am 40 in the next week and have lots of social engagements planned so my bootcamping is going to be pretty cr*p until a week on Tuesday... BUT then there will no excuse...

Hello Mavis and FabMum.

Winnie - DD back on Thurs and I'm up for some serious stuff (as long as the usual falling off the Bootcamp waggon is included)

  • Sunscreen - think so
  • No booze - tick
  • Walking - more walking to the park but little else!
  • Lots of water - not brilliant, its still that park/no toilet thing!
  • Body cream - yes
  • Hand cream - yes
  • Go to bed early - Might make it before 10.30pm tonight!
  • Eat healthily - not bad
  • Be happy - yes. Hopefully work issue is falling into place and another afternoon in the park in the sunshine with friends. REALLY don't want this holiday to finish.
feetheart · 28/08/2009 21:55

You go for it Winnie - 40 is fab

unknownrebelbang · 28/08/2009 22:52

Hello Mavis! Sorry life's been tough.

Happy birthday winnie.

  • Sunscreen - yy, but I'm more likely to suffer from rust at the mo.
  • No booze - yy
  • Walking - over an hour, + 30 min workout. Had done two hours exercise every day since Sunday, until today.
  • Lots of water and weak tea - yy.
  • Body cream - slacking
  • Hand cream - slacking
  • Go to bed early - will do in September.
  • Eat healthily - soso, aside from going for three pub meals (+ dessert) this week, and a box of chocs last night.
  • Be happy - yes. NO WORK FOR A WHOLE WEEK!!

Mine go back on the 9th, and we're away for a few days in the meantime, so I'll catch up with folks some time during September.

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend.

winnie09 · 29/08/2009 11:51

Hi unknownrebelbang, well done you for the exercise

I have started the day with toning exercises so I am feeling very pleased with myself!

I am thinking that due to schools going back, birthdays etc this isn't really going to get going properly until the week of 7th but ho hum... what I remember of the old bootcamp was that it was as much about hanging on in there at such times & enjoying life too. It may be as well to keep this thread going until then

I really, really need to cut down on the booze but it is not going to happen until after my birthday. I should have organised a party and invited all of my friends but didn't get wround to it and now I have lots of social engagements planned all revolving around food and drink Maybe I am going to have to up the anti on exercise to see me through the next 10 days

Also need some early nights and that isn't going to start happening until then either I truly am a bad example to all

I have had terrible back ache over the last 3 days and am convinced that my stomach muscles are tightening from the swimming but my back muscles are in need of work. In the pool yesterday I did a lot of back stroke to help but actually I think I need to do some specific strengthening back exercises.

I hope everyone is having a good bank holiday

OP posts:
winnie09 · 01/09/2009 11:08

OK... Where is everyone? Roll call

OP posts:
feetheart · 01/09/2009 22:28

I'm here and sort of raring to go

  • Sunscreen - yes (Bootcamp conscience made me do it!)
  • No booze - tick
  • Walking - to park and back and some staggering along trying to help DS learn to ride his bike like his big sister. Trouble is he's 3.10 and the bike is TINY so my back/neck are aching!
  • Water - OK
  • Body cream - yes
  • Hand cream - no
  • Bed by 10.30pm - I will try very hard now
  • Eat healthily - not bad
  • Be happy - yes. Great w/e and today had good chat with friend before she went to pick her DH up from hospital for his afternoon of freedom (though children were doing 'washing' in DD's room at the time and I did have to lay the law down a bit when I found out the full extent of the game!!) Then out to the park on the bikes to get rained on and look for rainbows - found one on way home

Hoping to up my happiness over the next few months by getting back into some sort of adapted FlyLady routine. I'm not a tidy, house-proud neurotic AT ALL but I do have real ishoos with this house and it's clutter (it's the house DH grew up in and I moved in when DD was born) and the more on top of it I am the happier I am. So I'm on a mission!!

Winnie - have a fantastic birthday week and enjoy all the festivities to the full. Bootcamp will always be here but you are only 40 once - ENJOY

Oh Can I join. Tried this a few months ago but life got in the way. Ds is starting school this September,so it should give me more time. I hope there are some competitive Mums there so I get some inspiration, edge and try to reach higher plain. I like looking together but rarely achieve it. I hope we can include random acts of kindness to!

Hello and welcome Starbear.
Be careful what you wish for re competitive mums, tis a minefield
I like the random acts of kindness idea

  • Sunscreen - forgot in rush to get out of house by 9.30am (need to be an hour earlier tomorrow-eek!)
  • No booze - tick
  • Walking - was meant to run this morning but DH got up early and disappeared to work so no opportunity. However did lots of walking as went to Whipsnade
  • Water - OK
  • Body cream - yes
  • Hand cream - yes
  • Bed by 10.30pm - think it was just after 11pm last night so aiming for better tonight
  • Eat healthily - not really but hey ho
  • Be happy - yes. Nice day out at zoo with hordes of friends, children and scooters. Final fling before school starts back tomorrow though thay may be a little too knackered for an early start tomorrow!

Sad that holiday is finally over but also looking forward to a bit more routine in the vain hope that it might help me get more organised - we shall see

winnie09 · 02/09/2009 21:31

I like the random acts of kindness idea too

Welcome Starbear
Hi feetheart... walking around Whipsnade def counts. When i have Moron on I find that on such days I do loads more walking than when I am trying

Sunscreen
No booze
Walking
Water
Body cream
Hand cream
Bed by 10.30pm (last night was 1 a.m tonight has to be better)

I have enjoyed the holidays but need to get back into a routine... I'd like to be more organised too

OP posts:
feetheart · 03/09/2009 21:59

Need to dig out my Moron again, haven't used it for ages but DS will be doing 3 mornings at pre-school from Monday (and 4 after Christmas) so will be doing more walking this school year than ever before.

  • Sunscreen - forgot again
  • No booze - tick
  • Walking - back to the school run so about 40mins in total (school not v far away!)
  • Water - better
  • Body cream - yes
  • Hand cream - no, really must do better
  • Bed by 10.30pm - managed it last night so I know I can do it!
  • Eat healthily - not bad but too many choc and cherry flapjacks, including mixture
  • Be happy - yes. Got out of house without any yelling and DD was very excited to be going back to school. Then had a nice day with DS just doing normal stuff together.
winnie09 · 03/09/2009 23:27

Are you still celebrating Winnie? Hope so.

Lovely relaxed w/e here involving domestic things - bit of tidying/cleaning, pancakes for Sunday breakfast, cooking with home-grown and foraged fruit and quite a bit of gardening. Sounds a bit 'old ladyish' and my (much) younger sister would definitely take the p*ss but we all had a lovely time

Today:

  • Sunscreen - forgot again though remembered all w/e!
  • No booze - tick
  • Walking - 2 mile run this morning then about 60 mins walking in total for the school runs but forgot Moron so no idea how many steps or distance
  • Water - not enough
  • Body cream - yes
  • Hand cream - yes
  • Bed by 10.30pm - no but will be before 11pm
  • Eat healthily - meals are OK but seem to be unable to resist the sweet stuff again so am snacking too often and not well Might be the exercise, might be hormones (had Mirena coil fitted 6 weeks ago), might just be greed!
  • Be happy - yes. DD loving school and her new teacher and DS very happy to be back at pre-school today. I have made a very small dent in the horror that is our house and have managed to acquire two desks for the new student tenants who will be moving into my flat on Friday - I do love Freecycle
winnie09 · 07/09/2009 23:07

oh feetheart, I have done SO much celebrating! But have had a fabulous time. I will start a new thread tomorrow... and begin again in earnest... Love gardening too (not old ladyish at all ) Well done on the run. Agree freecycle is great
