I went out last night for the first time in several millenia. For those of you who can't remember, that's when you put on nice clothes and impractical shoes and you spend time with people who don't want you to wipe their bottom or read Dig Dig Digging. Also there is alcohol.

I decided to wear something called 'make-up' which is like magic crayons for making your face less haggard.

Rummaged around under the sink and finally found my make-up box. It contained...

1 X green pearl eyeshadow.
1 X black mascara.
1 X Clarins Beauty Flash Balm (score!)
1 X bottle of elderly perfume.
1 X green eye-liner pencil (blunt)
1 X lip liner pencil (blunt)
0 X pencil sharpener.

I borrowed a My Little Lipgloss from dd (aged 3). It tasted of bubblegum.

Soooooo.... what should I buy? Has makeup changed much since I last bought some? People still use arsnic face whitening powder, right?

What are my options?

Benefit Erase Paste is a good concealer.

Don't buy an expensive mascara, as you're supposed to replace it after 3 months.

Benefit cream eyeshadows are lovely and can be swiped on with a finger. Birthday Suit is a nice shimmery nude one and fairly idiot-proof.

I got told 6 months when I bought my mascara but I usually go threw a tube by then anyway.

lol at the OP

If you're after coloured eyeshadows, I love Urban Decay - great bold pigment and nice packaging. I've also heard good things about Sleek (available in Superdrug) but haven't tried them myself...yet.

Barry M also good.

Yes, brilliant pigment and cheap cheap cheap, although the loose powder pots can be a bit treacherous to apply - I always seem to end up with a light dusting on my cheeks [cack handed]
