Accessorising - how to do it?

I never accessorise. I long to be one of these women who wears cool necklaces, bangles, broaches, belts etc.

I don't know where to start and don't want to spend to much.

Any advice?

Top shop are good for cheapo accessories. She says having 1 necklace to her name. But I look at them.

Don't buy too many, think Sienna (shudder) Miller.

I don't accessorise either , more so since ds came along, as he just pulls at everything. H & M might be a good starting point tho'.

I've looked but everything looks stupid on me. I were the same old silver necklace every bloody day.

I wnat chunky, funky, fashionable. God it's a minefield.

Accessorise (the shop) is ok.

I wear the same silver necklace all the time as well.

Maybe you think they look stupid because you re not used to wearing them?

What are your views on those jewelled/sequined slipper type things?

Less Is More. so chunky bracelets, but no big earrings/necklaces (matching or otherwise). Top Shop/Clare's Accessories quite funky/cheap.

I'm not one for accessories usually - with small children it's amazing we manage to get dressed at times! But now, bit of me time and me money as they are getting bigger and I'm off. On another thread I threw in that I bought a skirt today for the first time in 15 years, I also bought recently a fantastic chunky necklace at a jewellery party which goes with absolutely everything, cost me £7. There are lots of shops you can buy accessories of course but if you don't spend too much you can afford to make mistakes. And I think less is more too IYKWIM!

like those slippers. someone in the office here got some for £8 from primark, but they're more embroidery than jewelled.

Would you wear them out during the day? I'm thinking I would.

yes but say layering few necklaces rather than earrings, necklaces, bracelets.

I just wear my silver locket & bracelet all the time. Special to me cos DH bought them for me and locket has a lock each of our hair in it. Come to think of it DH bought my silver earrings too that I always wear. I have some other bits of jewellery & earrings, but I tend to wear my usual all the time.

I think I went off fashion jewellery after growing up in the 80's! Remember having matching necklace, earrings and bangles and even shoes in "nice" bright colours?? It made a comeback last year and I couldn't walk past Topshop without a shudder of horror at what I must have looked like.

PMSL KBear-I remember the days well. Plastic ruled then. My favourite was turquoise blue from head to toe. Did you have one of those long cotton coats with slits up the side? I wore mine with white canvas long boots, mini skirt and vest top.

PMSL - those white canvas boots were a bugger to keep clean and white weren't they! I always wanted to look like the Wham girls! Never quite made it. Choose Life!
