School winter coat for 10 yr dd!!!

I've decided that dd needs new winter coat ad as it's her birthday she's having it now in the middle of summer!

Problem - I want to get her sensible ski style, waterproof, longish, with a hood style, she want thin, cotton, half way up her back version.

Anyone spotted a compromise out there that will keep us both happy.

My dd has just turned 11 and is going up to High School in September. It is not cool to wear a waterproof apparently. They are all wearing wool jackets for winter. Have bought one from M & S.

This is dd's. Tbh it looks terrible on-line much much nicer in rl and is grey not black as it looks in the pic.
