I have just returned 2 out of the 3 things I ordered for me and 4 out of the 7 things I ordered for DS1.

The womens' sizing is just all over the place this year - the size 10 pleat front jacket I ordered was massive (despite a supposed fitted look) and the size 8 chic knitted top was far too small.

I also thought the quality/colours of the boys stuff was truly naff IRL. Very disappointed as my boys have always worn their stuff and never had any probs with quality/colour before.

oops I bet it is set to private, I will make it public so you can all gaze at my beautiful dd.

flatcapandpearls · 22/07/2009 16:19

Done

Paolosgirl · 22/07/2009 16:23

Thanks, MrsJohn - I'm feeling a bit more hopeful now!

Bettymum · 22/07/2009 16:25

Oh, she looks sweet!
I got my DD a little blue and white spotty jersey dress in Monsoon yesterday for a tenner, it's got long sleeves but it's a little bit similar to the teadress which looks very pretty.
My best Boden buy was a coat for DD on ebay for 2 quid. Beat that, Johnnie!

flatcapandpearls · 22/07/2009 16:28

I do like navy and white polka dot. It will last her a while as well as it is quite long so she will be wearing it next summer as well.

I bought some bits from Joules as well when they had a 3 for 2, but there was very little left.

aarghhelp · 22/07/2009 18:25

to Mrs John Simm - I'm not sure what the usual Boden sizing is like.

I think I'm about an 18 bust and 16 waist and the size 18 fitted well enough. But smaller sizes might come up v differently. Am still breast feeding which means I am trying to buy for more of an hour glass than a pear figure atm - I don't imagine that will last though.

I was surprised at how the cross over and length on the chic knitted top suited me. I'd ordered it for the colours - mainly purple with pink trim- but wasn't sure about the style. It seems an odd piece for summer, as it would have been far too hot most of the time to wear a long merino top (which is more like a tunic really).

The tunic shape is quite flattering in some ways, but I want to be able to wear a smart jacket over for work and that is difficult with a long, warm tunic. Fine at home, in winter, with a gilet over, maybe (it's cold here).

I like the idea of the sailor jumpers but they seem to put a lot of grey near the face and I don't think that would suit me.

BodenGroupie · 22/07/2009 19:58

Paolosgirl - no the cashmere jumper was quite small. I sent mine back because DH said it looked funny round the armpits .

I ordered the print dress in pink - it's absolutely gorgeous on. I never noticed it before cos they kept showing the yellow one in the brochure. It's a bit short so I may pluck up the courage to post a picture of my knees and see if you think I can get away with it

pleasechange · 22/07/2009 20:57

thanks bettymum - might be tempted to order that then!

not very hopeful about the ruffle henley on its way though

flatcap you're DD is very well-dressed

joliejolie · 22/07/2009 21:01

Is it just me, or do all the dress look like maternity? All high waisted and perfect for skinny minnies!
I have spent so many years being pregnant, I don't want to wear clothes that make me still look like I am, thank you very much!

BodenGroupie · 22/07/2009 21:41

Joliejolie - I am of large norkage so most things look like maternity dresses on me, but Boden ones are the exception. The halterneck one was lovely too and I didn't even need a bra with the Riviera one. Sent it back cos there's only so many days of summer in this country!

Paolosgirl · 22/07/2009 22:07

Thanks BodenG . I'd had my eye on the cashmere since the catalogue came out, but couldn't justify the £99. Was v excited when I saw it had been reduced!

I can't believe I've succumbed to Boden. Is it an inevitable part of getting older?

mrsmerryweather · 22/07/2009 22:13

I got the chic cashmere jumper in the oaty colur- size 10- and it's lovely. comes up quite small- normally I'd get into an 8, but this one is a bit tighter fit.

sent back the purple shift dress- odd fit- got the colour block shift earlier this year in an 8- but the shift dress is tight round the waist in a 10 -but the bust is too loose.

Ordered the Riviera before the sale and sent back- I just look incredibly frumpy in full skirts being only 5' 3".

Paolosgirl · 22/07/2009 22:15

Am v - they had sold out of the oaty colour when I was online, so ordered the blue. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but what the heck.

joliejolie · 23/07/2009 18:23

Just ordered the blue spotty dress for my dd, based on flatcap dd's lovely modelling pics!

MorrisZapp · 24/07/2009 13:47

Sailor jumper is lovely! (phew)

But - I won't be wearing it for months yet, as it's much heavier then I expected. Also, the neck is wider then it looks online, so I'll have to wear a tshirt under it if I don't want to share the joys of my grey bra straps with the world.

'Dear Clothing Retailers, why oh why oh why'

etc.

But for £23 I'm v pleased. Sizing is on the generous side btw if you're ordering.

cornsillk · 24/07/2009 13:52

Can someone link to the Boden Sale - I can't get on at the moment and have the urge.

Bettymum · 24/07/2009 14:21

Here you go cornsillk:
www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Sale.html#nav
MorrisZapp, I have to wear a t-shirt under the scoop neck vests unless I want to share large amounts of cleavage (and greying bra) with the world.

tulip27 · 24/07/2009 14:28

Just ordered the artisan coat, ruffle henley, flowerburst shirt and merino henley.
Anyone got any of these? Ummed and ahhed about the coat, looks fab, hopefully not too poncey.

Paolosgirl · 24/07/2009 15:51

Just got my chic cashmere and chic knitted tops - I can confirm that they are def. cut of the generous size. I'm an 8/10, and I would say they are on the biggish side of 10. Not sure if I'll be keeping them

cornsillk · 24/07/2009 16:52

thanks bettymum - still won't let me on though!
