Can I ask a question about the NEXT sale..?

Did anyone else find it full of clothes from seasons ago..?

Yeah sure there were some items in there from the current range BUT the rest of the stuff I had never seen...

AND mores the point, stuff that was on sale in store last week at full price imo was removed for the sale and has since been put back out full price...

What happened to the days when the NEXT sale was items from the current seasons range, clearing space for the next seasons range..?

I can honestly say I shop in NEXT often BUT didn't recognise half the stuff the had on sale...
I'm NOT saying btw that the stuff was crap..(coz I did manage to part with some pennies !)

I got the VIP email last wednesday so booked a slot. This is the first time I've had one but i've only been with next about a year so thought it was something you got after a certain amount of time. Like the next card you get after having the account for 6months.

the sale online, even the VIP sale wasnt that fantastic.

Agree that the VIP allocation seems a bit rubbish

shhhh · 21/07/2009 22:12

honestly,im sure every sale time they have a message go about the next office.. "shhh is on the loose" .

I have been with them for ohhh............ 10 years..and I have only ever had 1 VIP invite. It was in the days when I also got a list through the post of what was about to go into the sale and its price...

Thinking about it..I have stopped my directory as I use online next BUT still order via the directory online..and use my next store card..ALOT.

I guess that wouldn't mean anything..? that said, each time I call I get the same response and noone says "well you are not entitled iykwim".

Oh well, its only next..life does go on !!!

Next card? NEXT CARD? what frickin next card

Stilla · 21/07/2009 22:39

I worked at next one winter -the sale was one of the worst experiences I have ever had.....bloody skanky people dropping clothes on the floor then standing on them .

None of the shoes in the sale were shop stock-they all arrived in tubs already joined together with the plastic strap thingy. And despite having been in the storeroom many times Id not seen half the clothes that went out .

If you want to know what current shop stock is actually going into the sale , go in the day before and look at the price tags . If they have a letter/number written on in pencil ie: A12 .... that will be in the sale and priced as 12 pounds. (Thats what hapened at the store I worked in and I have seen it done in other stores as well)

MumHadEnough · 21/07/2009 23:02

Well, I don't know about the other stock, but I forgot the sale was starting and bought a load of stuff a fortnight ago. Typically, I logged on and found it all at half price or less .

I was lucky enough to get a VIP slot this year (didn't get one last year) and managed to get quite a few nice things. Some of it was on 2-4 weeks delivery mind you, although a couple of things have turned up already.

Tidey · 21/07/2009 23:07

Since I'm not enough of a masochist to turn up at 5am and fight with a load of maniacs waving handbags, I went on Sunday and thought it was crap. There was barely anything there, two rails of childrens clothes and a load of womens stuff you wouldn't use as a dead pet's burial dress. Utterly wasted journey.

Maybe next time I should turn up on the day it starts...

Mamazon · 21/07/2009 23:10

well ive been trying to order a dress for bloody ages.
It wont give me an account because i think the woman that lived here before had one and its obviously in debt.
Im trying to ay by card but even though it takes me through to my bank to verify my details it keeps saying that " an error has occured and my transaction can'#t be continued" or something.

its realy annoying. i want the dress for a wedding. mind you i started trying to buy it at full price and its now less than half price so if i do get it i'll be happy

PotterVsCullen · 21/07/2009 23:11

I always get a VIP invite, but rarely shop in Next, as I find it mostly overpriced tat. I have an account and card, but only really by kids stuff.
HATE HATE HATE Next jumble sale Sale

Fimbo · 21/07/2009 23:12

It is always crap. Years ago in the 80's I used to queue (but it didn't open at silly o'clock then) and it was worthwhile especially for work suits etc.

Having said that, I strolled in about 4.45pm on Saturday and it was quite quiet, I got jeans for £10 (which are terrible and going back!) and there was no queue at the till.

Tidey · 21/07/2009 23:13

Can't you get a friend to order it for you Mamazon? I'm also having a nightmare trying to find something to wear to a wedding, that's why I tried the Next sale, but to no avail.

Mamazon · 21/07/2009 23:17

i don't know anyone that uses next. everyone back in london seemed to but since i've moved here no one does.
I was astounded when i saw the locval next at Christmas sale time. you could see the clothes rails and everything, it was most unusual

ruddynorah · 21/07/2009 23:32

i hate next sale. but working in retail i know how sale works..especially in the current climate. a lot of stock is bought in especially for sale. anyhoo, i did too stroll into the huge next in manchester late on saturday afternoon. very quiet and tidy. picked up a couple of jogger and top combos for baby due november. easy peasy.

shhhh · 22/07/2009 09:40

ruddynorah,I tend to buy kids clothes in the sale....usually get stuff for the following year iykwim or even season depending on what the clothes are...

Sherby, the next card is a store card for next. All directory purchases and store purchases(on this card) get linked and you get a monthly statement etc.

I went on Saturday morning for the 1st time in a couple of years and found a few decent things for me. But all down 1 side of the shop was the exact same stuff as last year (and probably the year before). As soon as I walked in I saw the same stripy jumpers I remembered seeing before and thinking then that they'd clearly not been in the summer catalogue.

No kids stuff at all though really.

ruddynorah · 22/07/2009 10:33

i'm surprised how many people are surprised at how shoddy the clearance stores are. i mean, you do know it's the stuff no one wanted? so weirdy sizes..which may suit you, or weirdy styles, again which may suit you. not clothes for the majority though.
