White stuff or fat face?

Are either appropriate for a 40 year old mum of 3?

There was a lovely quilted picnic mat thingy once that I wanted so much - waited for it to be marked down in the sale and then missed it.

I like both but prefer WS as with FF you tend to see a lot of people wearing it as you walk down the street. I hate it when you see someone wearing the same thing that you're wearing

Although saying that WS is becoming more widespread now and some of their clothes are very distinctive so it would be doubly if you walk into the p/ground and another Mum is wearing the same distinctive skirt.

I'm 27 and love both, as does my 53-year-old mum.

I am neither hippy boho or ex (or trying to be) surfer girl, I just like fat face because their stuff is comfortable, wears well (no shrinking in wash) and casual and not black/beige/brown/navy. I don't like WS personally as I think their stuff is a little bit Clapham mumsy!
I think both brands are aimed at the 30+ market.

I wear bits of both. I dislike the FatFace shops (cardboard cutouts of camper vans etc) but the clothes are passable. Have recently become quite a fan of White Stuff, esecially their jewellery and tunic tops.

FatFace sizes are mega generous, which again, to me hints at the fact their target market is the 'wrong' side of 30. Take TopShop for example, even a size 16 in there (if they even do such a thing) would be about a 10 anywhere else (IMHO).

I like FF stuff
Not so keen on White Stuff - a bit too 'grown up' for me!!

I do think FF has gone off a bit. Too billowy and over patterned. Plus MIL has been sniffing around in there recently buying things which has really put me off
Love White Stuff but it's getting a bit samey. There are only so many patterned skirts and wrap cardigans I need in life..

Vamonos · 09/07/2009 22:47

I always want to like Fat Face, but the reality is disappointing, as someone said below. I've been in there desperate to find something to wear, tried loads on, but look like a sack of spuds in most of it. Their men's stuff is better I think, DH has some tops that have lasted well.

I do like White Stuff, and the fact that they do A line skirts (for pear shapes) which a lot of places don't. Downside is the worry about looking like a clone, I also don't really like their marketing, it's just a bit too pleased with itself.

Eve4Walle · 10/07/2009 08:06

I've gone off both. I've bought things from both places in the past but ended up getting bored of their stuff after a few wears. This seasons FF designs are just dire. Not flattering on anyone if you ask me.

Kids FF good though IMO.
