My sisters birthday is next week and she has said she would love a nice perfume but doesn't know which one. I am needing to order online as I won't be able to get to the shops in time. Can anybody recomemnd one for me? I am a bit clueless when it comes to stuff like this so would be really grateful of the help!

i used to like them but its a bit toilet cleaner ish I think, its fresh but not subtle

I totally love Silver Rain (La Prairie) their new one 'Midnight Rain' is also very nice. think it's about £90 for 50ml and comes in a lovely silver coloured rain drop shaped vapouriser.
I used to use Amouage Gold which is fantastic but very very expensive (too pricy for me now sadly!) not many places sell it, you can get it in Harrods and Selfridges I think.

Another vote for chanel chance for a lovely daytime perfume but I think the jo malone samples idea plus vouchers is a fab idea if you're buying perfume for someone else. Perfume is such a persoanl choice thing. DH once bought me that kenzo one because he thought it was really nice and it literally made me feel sick. Had to have a shower to get it off.

For the evening I always wear paloma picasso and always get asked what I'm wearing. have now worn it for 20 years and so should have changed but its so nice that I always go back to it.

I am in love with Guerlain L'Heure Bleu, it's .....different....!

MadameCastafiore · 08/07/2009 18:32

Jo Malones Pomegranite Noir - is scrummy.

Jo Malone Amber and Lavender - you can't beat it. Other Jo Malone fragrances are gorgeous too.

I bought Guerlain's L'Instant Magic duty free as a total impulse buy. I have had more positive comments about it than any other perfume I have ever worn. It is quite light and summery and seems to be a real hit with men and women alike.

I wear "Grains de Soleil" by Fragonard, which you can buy online from France. Everyone comments on how nice it smells when I wear it. It's not expensive - around 30-40 pounds a bottle, I think.

For something more expensive try www.lessenteurs.com and get them to send you some samples before you buy.

I think the Jo Malone testers & vouchers idea sounds great. Their products look expensive & she'll get a few handy handbag sized ones to try. Otherwise Eau D'Issy is nice & seems to be very popular with lovely smelling women (it was Italy's best seller for years & they always smell subtly lovely)
