Bronzer for very pale skin

macherie · 05/07/2009 21:33

I have very pale skin, brown hair and green eyes. Must have looked at 20 bronzers today, and even the palest one which was Guerlain looked too orange.

I want a golden, lightly sunkissed glow

Any suggestions?

I use the Bobbi Brown bronzing brick thingy, also Laura Mercier do one that's a little pinker. I use them very sparingly, though - I think it's very hard to do the full bronzer thing if you're milky pale.

I am a very pale blonde and swear by using the st tropez everyday tan a couple of times a week to take the edge off my naturally milkbottle tone, then using NARS laguna bronzing powder compact (not too dark and no sparkles in it) over the top. HTH!

I sound like your twin . For this reason, I have only ever gone for cheapy (No7, Rimmel etc) bronzers and can truthfully say that they have all been fine if I only use them sparingly and on the places where I would naturally tan if 'twas physically possible.

My newest trick is to use self-tanning facial moisturiser every few days, then a little sweep of bronzer on cheekbones/forehead/bridge of nose, then a pinky blusher on top on apples of cheeks - this seems to give a much more natural and warm effect than just bronzer on its own.

Ooo, great ideas here, thanks

I am longing for a healthy glow - I swear I bleach in the sun rather than tan!

Success

I went to the chemist and they had a way better selection of light bronzers, ended up with a No17 one for a fiver - a tenth of the price of some I was looking at and suits me so much better.

Anotherfinemess, the combination of bronzer and blusher is fab - I'm looking beautifully sunkissed, even though it is pouring rain.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

I bleach in the sun too, macherie! V pleased to hear you found a good bronzer - I'll have a look at that No17 one.

The key thing I try to do is summer is not to focus on looking tanned, but looking kind of gleamy. So I use a good quality light fake tan every couple of days, then a tinted moisturiser that is slightly (only slightly) more gold than my usual one (I use Becca in Sand - expensive but SO worth it). Then I use a bronzer with a very slight shimmer to it (NOT sparkly) and champagne/bronze eye cream. When I was younger I used a lip gloss to finish off, but now it's a tinted lip balm.

I'm going to try the bronzer/blush combo too.

Gleamy sounds good

I'll have a look at the becca tinted moisturiser hester, with the money I've saved on the bronzer I might be able to justify it.

Btw, I had one of those bobbi brown shimmer bricks in gold, I LOVED it, but dd was 'trying on' my makeup and it smashed on the bathroom floor

Good opportunity to look for an alternative though!

Ah, dd mashed up a Chanel lipstick 'getting ready for nursery' yesterday. I feel your pain.
