Bubble hem must go!

Does anyone know if a bubble hem can be removed from a dress?

I bought a lovely nude coloured dress in a almost chiffony material. I tried it on again at home and really liked it so took the label off etc. I've tried it on a few times since and realised the reason it now looks so cheap is the bubble hem.

I know nothing about sewing but wonder if I take it to an adjustment place they'd be able to take the bubble out? Anyone know or will I look like a crazy lady?

Do you mean the hem looks all bubbly because it's badly sewn, or is it one of those dresses with the balloon effect?

It's one of those balloon effect ones - it's kind of sewed under at the bottom.

That would be easy to do with fairly minimal sewing skills. An alerations place should have no problem with it.

Thanks very much. That's what I wanted to hear!
