Can I keep my knickers on if I have my bikini line waxed?

Er - haven't had this done for a few years and I can't remember what the "procedure" is, but I want to keep my knickers on because I'm very shy.

I know, I know, they've seen it all before but I'm .

hmc - I thought it was a strip of hair on the pubic bone so all around the vulva etc is hairless.

K, w/o drawing a map, I have no idea where anyone got the 'eyebrow' idea from my description. There's no hair on the vaginal lips or crack - it's removed by the technician. There is a vertical 'landing strip' on the mons pubis. It is just a straight line of hair. That's all. So no stray hairs peeking out from under the thong.

GDG, spot on. There's just a vertical strip of hair where the triangular patch used to be.

Yes, I speak from experience. They're the done thing in many hot climates, even if you don't wear a thong but just a bikini.

Love 'em!

Next time I come across a dodgy magazine in dh's study I'll have a closer look!

Def keep your pants on!

I got waxed (underarms/bikini/half legs) a week before dd was due as I had no idea when I was going to be able to go back to 'get done'. I got waxed all the way through my pregnancy and didn't find it any more painful - you the more you have it done the less painful it becomes as the hair follicles become weaker.

Was funny from mid-pregnancy onwards as I said 'Just use your discretion as I can't see anyway!'

I so want a hollywood! But why go through the pain when you can shave!

Expat - thought so, it's the way I have it

Fastasleep - I do it myself with a razor! It doesn't hurt a jot but you have to do it more often.

OMG - my mother will probably see this. Oh well!

I shave too lol my DH is very particular about it! Until I get a bump so big I can't see anymore and then I get all unruly down there

Shaving you have to do too often. Over time, waxing destroys the hair follicles, so you aren't as hairy. I also think waxing gives a smoother finish than shaving.

maybe someone should go in and ask for the eyebrow thing just to freak out the beautician - could start a trend, call it "the mumsnet"...

Shaving down there causes skin irritation and itching doesn't it? That's what I've found

Waxing does give a smoother finish but a Brazillian wax nearly destroys me and I enjoy having my legs waxed. The Brazillian makes me want to hit my waxer!!!!!
These days tend to get a normal bikini wax and shave the most sensitive bits & strim the rest.

Good grief. Can you think of a more unpleasant job than a "waxer".

pmsl sandyballs!! not as bad as it sounds as long as you get to do over treatments too, wouldn't like to only do waxing appointments. I first hated it as felt like I was giving pain but love it now, quite satisfying to see all the hair come off, fave body part to wax is legs, easier surface and not as embarrasing for all parties involved. i love to get tweezers out for stubborn hairs.... sad me? never

btw, have you made your appointment yet??
