Birkinstock wearers come here and tell me

Do you think the insides 'wear down' and therefore aren't as effective? I have the sorest heel ever and at the moment my beloved Birkies are the only thing that gives me relief. I have a pair from a few years ago and the footbed is really wore down, but I can't decide if it is making any difference.

If you understand this waffle, well done

Yes I think they do wear down! Also I hate the fact that the cork goes all dark after a while and they just look dirty. I love it when you get a nice new pair

fishie · 08/06/2009 20:51

yes they do. i got a blister from my new ones.

i have got that borjuois dark grey nail varnish you recommended, it is rather lovely with red patent birks.

cocolepew · 08/06/2009 20:57

Oh good, I'll buy a new pair then .

Fishie, it is lovely isn't it [modest].

have you got the dreaded plantar fasciitis?

I get that, generally cushioned soles help

cocolepew · 08/06/2009 21:00

No,ggirl, I thought it was, I went to my oestopath last year and it's connected to my back . The tendon (or ligament ) is twisted and isn't 'sitting' in my foot properly.

It hurts [whines].

Not sure about the insides, but the strappy bits definitely stretch.

Still... a good excuse for a new colour !

cookielove · 08/06/2009 21:05

i love my birkies, but after having a pedicure, i slipped my lovely new pinked toed feet into them and it felt like i was wearing cheese graters, the pain lasted 3 days, oooh so bad.

Wore them for a friends christening absolutly fine, then went for a mooch round time in them and ended up going on a three mile walk, ahhh the pain, all cheese grater and blisters.

I'm now so not in love with my birkies but do love that they have my dirty foot prints on them

cocolepew · 08/06/2009 21:05

I'm thinking silver.........

JustKeepSwimming · 08/06/2009 21:42

Well i thought the OP was going to be:

As a new Birkies owner (thanks MIL ) do the insides wear down and become more comfortable?
i love mine but....the lumpy bits hurt my feet.
am i just used to flat shoes?
(only wear trainers or flip-flops normally)

Ronaldinhio · 08/06/2009 21:42
