Am a size 12, 5'9" with D cup norks and decent legs, shame about the bum.
I am thinking dresses as I need to get dressed quickly in the morning. I keep finding myself drawn to "this www.jaeger.co.uk/index.cfm?page=1094&productid=630039R&productvar=630039R-05800-12&refpage=1583"
sort of thing but I do not want to look like the old lady of the office.
All suggestion very welcome, thank you in advance.

Oh Kathy that must be the dullest thing you could find
Jeez!!!

slyandgobbo · 05/06/2009 21:37

Thsoe necklines are too high for someone with your bust. You will look like soft furnishing!

BeehiveBaby · 05/06/2009 21:42

Reiss sizes are collossal IME, they only do 8, 10, 12 but they were really, 12, 14, 16 when I worked there.

slyandgobbo · 05/06/2009 21:43

better at Whistles
or this
or this

janeite · 05/06/2009 21:46

The dress in the Op looks very mumsy to me and is the kind of thing dp would describe as 'Greek widow'' The Whistles one is too high necked as well and they tend to look quite 'boxy' irl.

Then again, I'm thinking that you see the Oasis and Warehouse ones as too informal?

Does it have to be dresses or would separates do?

This is v nice irl and you could wear a cami if it's too low.

This is cute and comes in plain black too.

KristinaM · 05/06/2009 21:54

kathy - you are only 33. you are tall and slim with a good figure.

why are you looking at such boring and frumpy things? i cant believe that an IT dept in cheshire requires you to look like that !

what has happened to make you feel so middle aged?

mooseloose · 05/06/2009 22:02

Everyone wears jeans in the office /whole business that I work in. Even the managers unless they have a meeting!

I would love to dress up but would be looked at like a freak!

KathyBrown · 05/06/2009 22:47

BB that's good to hear, I window shop in Reiss a lot but am always frightned to try them on, I'll be brave tomorrow
Kristina Thank you, I've always dressed like a 45 year old, I thought I have no fashion sense, am not pretty so I could at least be smart, I do need to change though before it's too late and I am middle aged.

Whistles does seem to be a good bet, thank you to both of you, some nice dresses there.
Mrs Ruff, I shall be back to you when I have a wedding or a glamorous occasion worthy of your talents

I love Mrs Ruffalo's dress of 20:58 on Friday, not so much for work though.

KathyBrown · 06/06/2009 23:46

So far I have been to M&S (I know I know) and bought a pair of Navy wide leg trousers and two green tops I'm not convinced are me (one bright green, one soft pale green).
Am thinking of going to Selfridges and having a personal shopper, I want somebody to lay out 5 outfits for me and show me what goes with what, does that sound like a plan ?

Sounds like a grand idea. Once they have given you a blue-print for how to put things together, you should be able to follow their formula when you go shopping yourself.

KristinaM · 07/06/2009 17:22

that's a great idea

there are personal shoppers in debenhams and john lewis too
