Summery, white, unlined...

... skirts.

How do I wear one?

Got my eye on a couple lovely white skirts - one linen, one cotton - but they're unlined.

Would it look cheap and nasty?

Thanks in advance.

will we be able to see your pants?

TrillianAstra · 04/06/2009 09:01

My first thought was: sumery, white, unlined, see-through.

Don't wear dark knickers. Don't wear tiny knickers. Otherwise, go ahead.

callalilies · 04/06/2009 09:01

With a very long tunic top?

Or not at all imo.

Wuxiapian · 04/06/2009 09:04

Yes, I guess knickers'd be visible.

Would wear decent sized white knickers with them.

Can't wear long layers with a skirt - kinda drowns me.

Hmmm...

No knickers? But it depends on whether the Bermuda triangle is visible.

TrillianAstra · 04/06/2009 09:16

Wear white knickers with big red strawberries on them. It'll be a statement.

norksinmywaistband · 04/06/2009 09:20

How about going for the old fashioned, but practical slip

callalilies · 04/06/2009 09:21

White denim instead?

TrillianAstra · 04/06/2009 09:22

I have an unlined white linen skirt. Buut it's thick, so I don't think you can see my knickers.

Just wear it. You'll be fine. I doubt there'll be an 'AIBU for thinking it's disgusting that this woman was walking around with her knickers showing?' anytime soon.

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/06/2009 09:23

No, don't wear white knickers, they will be in show for all and sundry to see. Wear flesh coloured undies - you won't be able to see them (but don't let your DP se them as there is nothing so passion killing as flesh coloured underwear. DP saw me in my flesh coloured bra once and said his gran had a bra like that )

Or go commando.

Sod wearing a petticoat in this weather.

squeaver · 04/06/2009 09:23

With a thong

Or nude pants as close to your skin tone as poss. NOT white pants.

Can't go commando unless, you are clean shaven, dark pubes on view to all is not nice

Clure · 04/06/2009 09:39

I have a white skirt in a sort of double layered muslin underskirt. Its just about ok but yes to wearing flesh coloured pants (agree with Getorfmoiland - lol about passion killer!!)
Also m&s do those non static type slips if you have to wear one

RamblingRosa · 04/06/2009 09:41

Flesh coloured definitely way forward as others have said. M&S do some good 'no VPL' lacy ones in a nude tone that I like. Also, depending on your skin tone, if you're fairly pale, pale pinks and peaches can work just as well as ugly "flesh" colours but are a bit prettier. That's all assuming you're white...

Wuxiapian · 04/06/2009 11:13

Definitely not up for commando-ing! Not these days, anyway...

I'm mixed race - brown skinned, so I'm guessing the white knickers are a double no-no!

Shall have to scout for sexy flesh coloured jobbies, then... or will they not work with my skintone?

What a dilemma...

RamblingRosa · 04/06/2009 11:24

Definitely not white in that case. Some brands do different shades of "nude" so I'm sure you'll find something to suit you. Have a look on Figleaves.com.

Depending on how dark your skintone is you might find black works better. Sounds crazy I know but it can work really well.

Have a look on figleaves and do a search for knickers and narrow it by colour and see what comes up.

Good luck!
