Am going to Ascot in July, anyone seen any nice dresses recently. Never been before so not sure what I should wear?

I think this is a typo, but Ascot is in June!

PLEASE Don't wear a fascinator.

No i'm going in July too, to The King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, which is apparently the most prestigious race of the year!

If anyone has been before please could you give me an idea of what to wear!

Is it as formal as Ascot, could i just wear a pretty sundress & flats?

Would i look silly if i went all out and wore a nice facinator?

I think we are only going in the grandstand area but it would still be quite nice to make a bit of effort for the occasion... altho i dont want to stick out like a sore thumb if everyone else is in jeans!

If you're just in the grandstand you can get away with pretty much whatever you like (but fascinators are damned awful! If you're putting something on your head buy a decent hat!!)

Floaty dress, think Monsoon and a good hat. Fascinators are horrible IMO - takes a very very special type to pull them off well!

Agree about the fscinators - was @ the Derby last week and tehy look totally naff - ditto tiny little chiny dresses shwoing of acres of goose-flesh. Mosooon type floaty safest, and nice cover-up if chilly, not pashima!
