Looking for a wideish hat that won't look stupid on the school run/in the park

I need something with some decent coverage, but have so far only felt able to get away with the straw cowboy thing on holiday and the big 30's floppy on the beach or at a wedding. I'm thinking either another straw cowboy, or else something like this, or this (but minus the scarf). What do you think? Is it possible?

It is quite tricky and depends on what you would be wearing for the school run. I have a couple of beanie type hats, which do the job and go with casual wear: jeans, fatigues or even a casual skirt.
They are easy to fold and stuff in a pocket when not in use, which is always handy.

Thing is I'm after something that'll give quite a bit of shade - I'm of the pale & freckly persuasion

The first one is v masculine though

Any good?

Hmm don't think I could pull off a trilby - not sure anyone except an ubercool teenager can. Quite like the stetson's but I'm still worried I'll look like an idiot - are they more acceptable now everyone knows its sensible to keep out of the sun?

Cool!

Well I actually made it into a local hat shop this week and bought one of these (I'm fairly confident it's nicer than this pic makes it look) and I'm hoping it'll get me through the school gate without ridicule. Also a wide brimmed straw number along these lines. Still not sure though...
