Who suits those dropped waist ruched dresses?

Because I certainly don't??!!!

Went shopping yesterday and tried on several, especially with the bunchy bit around the waist (like 1st dress here or second one there.)

They made me look like I was pregnant and had humungous hips.

I don't.

Who on earth can wear them?

I did buy a kind of dropped waist check dress from Comptoir des cotonniers click on tendances, it's the red check one.

Which is nice but doesn't do the ruching bit.

Anyone manage to wear them?

Fourteen-year-old transvestite boys.

HolyGuacamole · 30/05/2009 13:21

I don't suit them as I have big hips and they just make me look bulky. I think you need snake hips to carry them off.

The red check one is lovely!

Oh dear would make any arse look huge. Best on skinny teenagers i think.

Overmydeadbody · 30/05/2009 13:23

I can wear them (I think now I am worrying)

I have a long torso though, and am only a size 8, so I figure it looks ok

Bonneville · 30/05/2009 13:27

OMDB - worry not - size 8 is snake-like!

HolyGuacamole · 30/05/2009 13:28

Size 8, you go for it lady

SammyK · 30/05/2009 13:59

They are made for skinnies which I am certainly not!

I looked in soo many shops yesterday for some nice clothes, everything had drop waists, or spaghetti straps or halternecks. Where are clothes for women with larger norks and curves??

HaventSleptForAYear · 30/05/2009 19:20

The things is I don't even have big hips, my shoulders are bigger and I'm a small size 10 but even so...

I think all the tunic-y or bat-wing tops look better with norks - they looked empty on me, and a bit gapey.

I rejected loads of the tops at Comptoir des Cotonniers because of this (was traweling the pre-sale).

skinny girls with shiny hair

Flamesparrow · 30/05/2009 19:36

Love that one but no, wouldn't suit it.

Boyish figure maybe?

HaventSleptForAYear · 30/05/2009 19:42

Yes flame that one looks lovely (with no-one in it!) but when I tried that kind of thing on it hitched up around my hips most unattractively.

And then it goes all puffy round your waist.

They are ok until you move

I saw a v. skinny woman on the beach last weekend wearing a tunic with the same dropped waist, when she sat down it was all bunched up and puffed up in the breeze!

I think my mate could pull it off. Tall, stupidly slim...
