White linen jacket for a wedding?

What's the ettiquete (Sp?) for wearing white for a wedding. I am going to wear it anyway as it's the only thing that goes with the skirt but I was just wondering if I was commiting a style crime.

Wearing white or cream to a wedding is generally a no-no. I think it is frowned upon as competing with the bride. Not everyone would think like that though, I've just heard that is the case in general.

Although it doesn't matter if you are going to wear it anyways.

Only if the whole outfit is white/cream. If it's black and cream (for example) then I think that it's fine. Anything that could make you look like a bride is a bad idea (and I once phoned a friend to make sure that she was doing the full on princess look before I bought a cream wool trouser suit).

What is the rest of the outfit like?

But did you notice what anyone else was wearing at your own weddings?

cos I sure as hell didnt......twas all about me........

Wear what you like imho. No one gives a hoot and are focussing on the wedding party!

Cheers, it's a floor length black skirt with loads of brightly coloured paint strokes on it (some weird french designer but I always get LOADS of compliments).

Think a white jacket is fine.

Was at one wedding where guest wore knee length beaded/embroidered white dress complete with up-do and white feather/beady thing in her hair. Now she was trying to compete with the bride.
