Boden Linen Dress

Help. I wore my new Boden Linen dress for the first time yesterday. Looked great at first but then I caught sight of myself - the backside had become all baggy and you could see the imprint of my bum. Very disappointed. What can I do with it?

Return it? Ebay? Dishcloths?

Or maybe steam iron it. Linen imo is shite - always goes wierdly crinkly or baggy. Never all floaty and glam as I would hope.

Not sure you could return it as this is what linen ALWAYS does... tis hard not to be sucked in by the thought of the lovely floaty look though.
Could you wear it as a tunic over some leggings/jeans?

howtotellmum · 28/05/2009 07:36

which linen dress is it?

howtotellmum · 28/05/2009 07:37

Have you tried wearing a slip under it- that often stops the baggy bum look.

It's the linen shirt dress in plum. I think it's too late for the slip but will give your suggestions a try
Thanks

This one.
Of course I look like the model in it too!! I wonder if she turned sideways would she have a baggy bum?

Send it back if you aren't happy with it. I understand linen sags but I would expect a dress costing that much to hold its shape better than most.

Boden have a no-quibble refund policy. A friend of mine returned something after 3 months because she wasn't impressed with the fact it looked old and knackered already after such a short time. She got a full refund from old Johnnie boy

I think you need to wash it, the wear with a slip.
Having said that, Ihave a few pairs of linen trousers- not Boden, but Kew- and they all look great fresh out of the wash then within an hour I have saggy bum! I think it's because most linen is a loose weave and stretches.

Oh, I really liked that one, but I thought I'd probably have to be the model's size to look good in it.

Linen is a bugger - gets me every time. I think 'ooh, classic English summery look, crip and casual, floaty etc' - and what I get is ironed-in creases that stick out in high relief and make my undercarriage and tummy even more prominent.
