It's in July, renewal of vows in church followed by lunch. No evening do.

Was thinking of dresses, but am open to other suggestions. Am tall (5'9) and a size 14-16 (hopefully 14 by the day as am losing weight slowly and painfully ) Look best in V necks and wide straps. Arms, bust and waist probably best features - worst, by far, are my legs and they are what makes it very difficult to find clothes that look good. Huge thighs, fat knees, big calves, thick ankles...

Really have no idea what length dress I should wear - maxi would cover everything up, but fear I might end up looking like a tent.

Would be very grateful for any suggestions.

the maxi=tent thing is a fallacy. Incredibly flattering, esp as you are tall.

what colours do you like?

and what budget?

sphil · 27/05/2009 22:10

Look best in greens and browns I think. OK in blue and red, as long as not too bright. Def not yellow or black - makes me look sallow. Budget..hmmm...haven't bought anything nice for ages (and it's my parents' Golden Wedding later this year, so will wear it again) ... up to about £150.

Am willing to be convinced about maxis .
