jumpsuits - yay or nay?

mrsshackleton · 27/05/2009 11:30

so is this disgusting or not?

I think it looks great on the model. But on me? Probably not

And how do you do a wee in one?

Am 40, size 10 and do not want people think I have yearnings to be in a Bananarama revival band.

As jumpsuits go, that's actually quite nice. Its the ones with the ruched ankles that will date. It's very Farrah Fawcett cicra 1978 isn't it?

19fran76 · 27/05/2009 11:34

I love jumpsuits. I think your example could look very classy @ 40.

hobbgoblin · 27/05/2009 11:35

Yes, quite nice!

M&S Did a lovely slinky one at Xmas which I returned planning to get the size down but they sold out and I missed my chance. Have been hankering after one ever since.

Buy it! When are you planning to wear it? Day/Work/Evening?

notyummy · 27/05/2009 11:35

I think it looks very stylish - and some people could pull it off. It all depends on accessories and attitude.

littlelamb · 27/05/2009 11:36

It's very flared, But it doesn't scream 'I'M WEARING A JUMPSUIT' iyswim. Might look nice with a belt around the waist to break it up a bit.

Tommy · 27/05/2009 11:36

I used to wear them - in about 1978

didn't look like Farrah though (I was 12) and they are a bit of a bugger to go to the loo in as you have to pull the whole thing down and grab it so it doesn't fall on the floor

Heated · 27/05/2009 11:40

Ha ha ha - sorry, just recollecting the crinkle fabric one I had in the 70s

Whilst it's a very elegant one and you need to be thin and lithe to wear one, imo if you can remember jumpsuits the first time round, you shouldn't go for a 2nd visit. On a 20- something it will look suitably fashion ironic on anyone 30s and older more like fashion time-warp.

mrsshackleton · 27/05/2009 11:41

Hmm

I can always order then take it back .. what do you advse accessories wise?
i
Still worried about the loo issue. I drink loads of water and wee all day long, it might be too much faff.

There is a nice looking one in (gasp) next

notyummy · 27/05/2009 11:45

No necklace. Big earrings. Heels, def.

I have seen a couple of silky ones that I quite like the look of, but have been too scared! Am 37 and 10/12, although 5 10 so quite tall.

Not sure what DH would say - he is a real fashion conservative...

19fran76 · 27/05/2009 11:46

As much as I love 'em there is no denying that the toilet issue is a faff.

mrsshackleton · 27/05/2009 11:47

Oh Heated

I never wore one first time round but I can remember them so it's probably a no

And tbh I have no idea when I'd wear it - I work from home and I think it's a bit full on for the nursery run. But someone young and with a social life should deffo get it

Second earrings, heels, clutch. Keep it simple as it is a strong statement in itself.

BunnyLebowski · 27/05/2009 11:51

NAY NAY NAY NAY NAY NAY NAY

The only "statement" you'll be making is that you're wearing an adult sized babygrow.

notyummy · 27/05/2009 11:54

Ah yes, the well-known phenomenom of 'buying clothes for the lifestyle you wish you had'.

I do it all the time!

I have some gorgeous maxi dresses that I waft around in....for 5 minutes, until I trip over a hem whilst chasing dd and stopping some carnage occuring....

19fran76 · 27/05/2009 12:09

at Bunny. It's a risky business being a jumpsuit lover.

notyummy, agreed & guilty . Isn't it fun for those 5 minutes though?

Jumpsuits - yay if you are 5' 10'' and a size 8. Nay if you belong to the rest of the female population.
