URGENT - YOOX - Weird Payment System

I finally managed to place an order on this site. It refused my credit card repeatedly and after a few attempts it finally took my VISA debit card.
I got email confirmation of order then, few hours later an email request for further verification - have just called them and nice Italian lady (it appears they are based in Bologna) says they need a photcopy of front and back of my card before they will process and ship goods. When I explained my concerns re security she said I could black out first 8 digits on front but am still a bit nervous...

.......but the order was for some great stuff at silly prices .....but it all seems like a lot of hassle with poss considerable downside....

Would you do as they say?
Anyone else ordered from YOOX and had this ?

Frock-enablers I beseech you, there's a whole pile of juicy couture goodies riding on this!!!!

(Not the chavvy juicy stuff I might add but a lovely nautical inspired vest top, some amazing tan gladiators, cute short sleeved cardigan, silver converse style sneakers....need I go on????)

I paid via Paypal IIRC, the shoes were lush but they sent a brooch instead of a hat. Took a few emails to sort out.
Can you change to a paypal payment instead?
Their system was definitely odd, not sure I'd be happy with sending them copies of my card.

I've used Yoox a few times and havent had this problem before. Maybe they've updated their system due to credit card fraud
