Not sure if this is Style and Beauty but you lot always have good ideas so.......

Painters have just rung ot say they can start next week with a big paint job in the house. All fine except I can't decide what to do with our main bedroom which we have lived with since moving in 3 years ago! Had originally wanted pale green walls with white bedding with some kind of green accent (is that the posh word for decoration or pattern???) but have spent the past year looking and not found any I really like. This is the closest I have found:

So my question is - is it better to have plain white walls and go for coloured bedding or have coloured walls and have white/cream duvet colours? What have you gone for???

I prefer coloured walls and white bedding. We have Farrow and Ball 'Light Blue ' in our bedroom, a soft greeny grey which I love. I have colour in curtain and bedspread.

Green walls and white bedding will look like a hospital . Just don't go there.

Pinks are much more flattering in bedrooms.

What is your bed like - beds are usually the most prominent and defining piece of furniture in a bedroom, so it's useful to get an idea of the style before giving advice.

My walls are greeny my bedding is white. It looks NOTHING like a hospital room. Pink is passe in bedrooms.

DH has ruled out pink/purple - anything remotely girley - have tried everything but he won't budge! Amazed he will even go for a pale green/blue TBH!

Good point re furniture BonsoirAnna - Bedroom has v high ceiling - over 3 metres, oatmealy carpet, and the bedroom furniture is solid oak from M&S - bit like this bed (also wardrobe, bedside tables x 2), also have an original fireplace in the corner of the room so would say style more traditional, def not modern!

What about an aubergine colour on the bed wall & pale cream or white on the others?

White bedding looks lovely & fresh.

You could have the green accent in accessories .without having to commit yourself to green on the walls. White bedding is a good idea with milky white walls and a neutral colour on the bed wall. Something like Farrow and Ball smoked trout would look nice with oak.

With your furniture, a very pale grey would look lovely on the walls; you could have white bedding and a charcoal bedcover/blanket in velvet or linen.

That would look like an orphanage
