How many items do i need to manage. I was thinking
1 skirt
1 pair trousers
4 tops
1 dress.
Does that sound enough to not look like I am always wearing the same clothes.
also 2 pairs of shoes and 2 bags.
I like black, white and red
so i though 1 pair black shoes and bag
one pair red shoes and bag
mainly black cloths.
What do you think?

2 pairs of trousers
cardigan/shrug type things
2 dresses

I would say another 'bottom' eg trousers. Why not expand the colour pallette beyond black red and white? Watch some of Goks fashion fix on Ch4 online, he picks out great capsule wardrobes and there isn't much black there.

I need to huntn through my wardrobe and see if I have anything at all that is suitable, I am very much doubting it tbh. I do have a grey shrug that would go with most things.
Obviously I can add to it as I actually get paid but I need the basics to start with.

sounds good but I think you need to add in jewellery, mac, jacket/cardigan

Tesco are good if you are looking for cheap basics

doggiesayswoof · 26/05/2009 13:43

How many days per week do you work?

If it's 5, I think you need 5 bottoms - I currently have 1 dress, 2 pairs trousers, 2 skirts.

Then maybe 6 or 7 tops

2 pairs shoes/2 bags fine

A few cardis - I have 4 atm

I have a couple of scarves too.

I tend to buy cheaper tops and cardis (new look, tesco) but spend a bit more on bottoms. Really cheap tailoring looks rubbish (on me anyway)

got tyhe basics today
got 2 skirts, a pair of trousers, and I founf 3 skirts in my wardrobe that are OK.
Bought 4 tops and again I found 2 that will do in my wardrobe.
Need still
a dress
shoes, I couldnt find any shoes I like which is not like me, though I probably also ought to buy a watch as I dont currently have one.
Will be working 4 days.
I actually rather enjoyed myself, I magaed to find clothes that while amart are still my style and very flattering.
went to M & S and TK Maxx

sounds like you will have plenty to wear then after all! Glad you had a good time and I hope you enjoy your new job!

what shape are you? wrap dresses are great for bigger boobs, shift dresses are nice for smaller on top shapes. A-line bottom needed if you're pear shaped.

well done. just one thing - how old are your dc and how likely to be sick on you/throw breakfast over you? if highly likely, get a couple more tops (most likely to be in the line of fire) or you'll be forever washing. separates much better than suits (not ruined if one half of the outfit gets sicked on). gap v good for cheap basic shirts etc. little cardis very useful for days when weather is variable. i have a few dresses for work but found separates can be more easily made to look like they're not what you were wearing yesterday (dresses more memorable and cant easily be changed/...)
