Trying to find something nice to go under my strapless wedding dress, dh to be likes "old fashioned" lacey type things.

Any suggestions of websites would be most appreciated.

Had a look at agent provocetuer (sp) but winced at paying £90 for a pair of knickers with a hole in

I wore only knickers as I couldn't find bra/corset to suit

PistachioLemon · 25/05/2009 15:23

How about figleaves?

Or if you're in London and have some £££ to spare rigby and peller are amazing and so helpful.

jrsqueak · 25/05/2009 15:27

that wasnt very helpful. I tried bhs, debenhams but all too expensive! Try ebay - i found some on there

PistachioLemon · 25/05/2009 15:37

True, it depends on Geordie's budget I suppose. And whether her dress has any support built in.

jrsqueak · 25/05/2009 15:55

Thats true - my dress was all boned with support in hence my decision.

I think your dress dictates your lingerie TBH. You might need some pretty practical, smooth-lined well built corsetty stuff or holdy-in pants spanx style!

A friend of mine had to wear flesh coloured very unimaginative boring practical lingerie under her dress and so had a pretty set which she changed into later... if you could be bothered!

I had a smooth t shirt bra from M&S and the tiniest little thong imaginable (called 'Commando'! lol) as my dress was so clingy even spanx were visible. All that pretty lacey stuff would have been very visible.

Its a full skirted dress with a corset top, so I think it might end up just being knickers as there isnt a whole lot of room in there

I couldnt be further away from London(Glasgow) but I'm sure there must be some nice underwear shops up here... if its just knickers then I might spend a bit more.. Although I really dont want to spend £100 on a bit of floss

There's an Agent Provocateur in Glasgow (unless it's closed down) and Boudiche on Frederick St in Edinburgh and I think there's a fancy lingerie shop on Williams St in the West End of Edinburgh...

Oh sorry just re-read you checked out AP already.

geordieminx · 25/05/2009 19:14

I may still have a look thanks MrsM, they might have some different stuff to online

Would definitely recommend Boudiche in Edinburgh if you can be bothered making the journey through. I got some lovely stuff from Harvey Nichols for my wedding so they're worth a try too. Does House of Fraser in Glasgow not have quite a good lingerie department? Also there is a newish lingerie boutique opened in Glasgow somewhere (Merchant City?) which specialises in vintage looking underwear which isn't mega expensive. Can't remember name just now but will come back when I find the article I saw it in.

geordieminx · 25/05/2009 19:38

might have a day across in edinburgh in the summer with my mum and have a check of harvey nics and boudice. Oh vintage sounds exactly what i'm after, i wouldnt mind paying for something special, as opposed to a white g string.

www.betsylabelle.co.uk The shop is on Byres Road and the stock looks amazing - I'm coming through for Take That in June and might pop in to buy something lovely (as if seeing them isn't a treat enough!)
It's an independant shop so I'll bet the owner would be able to source you something special if she doesn't have exactly what you're looking for.

Good luck!

thank you!!
