I am looking to buy some comfortable but stylish shoes (not sandals as I cannot wear them for lab work) I am not too keen on trainers and its too hot for boots. I need something I can stand in for long periods so not too high. Can anyone help.

this type of thing?

leothelioness · 22/05/2009 13:10

not quite what I was looking for the strap always reminds me of school shoes. Sorry for being so vague but I am clueless
It kind of like I will know the perfect pair when I see it (if it exists)

I do like the colours though.

I've just bought these

leothelioness · 22/05/2009 13:21

They are lovely puppy monkey but am not sure as the lab rules are no open toed shoes and I don't know if they would object to the cut outs. I am seriously tempted though what colour did you get them in and are they comfy.

I got the blue/green colour as I seem to have acquired a lot of clothes that shade this year. Only arrived this am, but seem very comfy. I have a bit of a walk to and from my car when I go to work, so I really needed something that wasn't gonna cause me pain!

leothelioness · 22/05/2009 13:31

I like the blue colour too. But think I may need something neutral as I dont have any chothes that shade (maybe I could buy the shoes and a new wardrobe).

OP posts:
BikeRunSki · 22/05/2009 13:44

Neutral and lab friendly, but you might think too boring and trainery

here

leothelioness · 22/05/2009 13:48

Sorry Bike I don't like them they r too much like trainers

Leo, I find shoes like those quite uncomfortable. Have a whiteish pair very similar and have never been able to walk in them. Obviously, I should have realised that before I bought them.

Clure · 22/05/2009 17:05

are these too boring?

NorkilyChallenged · 22/05/2009 17:34

What's your price range? Should be able to link to some lovely things after I've fed the kids, but they are a bit pricey (shoes I would link to, not my kids... kids came free with several years of sex )

something summery without being sandals or something for all year round?

NorkilyChallenged · 22/05/2009 20:07

Just some ideas while waiting to hear about price/season...

Some nice ones on this page (backless but closed toe suitable for lab)
here

I like the stitch clog or the bottom ones here

I've got some nice ballet pumps from Clarks, comfy and leather (so not all sweat-making)

macherie · 22/05/2009 20:25

these are exceptionally comfortable - I feel I could rum a marathon in them

They also come in a pale gold leather, which isn't on the website, but I have seen in shops. That would be a great go-with -everything summer shoe.

leothelioness · 23/05/2009 08:24

Thanks for all the links I am looking for something closed toed but summery
As for budget it would depend on the shoe but ideally not more than 60 pounds. But if it were something really great I could be persuaded to spend more.

Puppy monkey that is what I was worried about. I t is important for shoes to be comfy I end up shoving pair that aren't to the back of my cupboard.

Sorry Clure not summery enough.

Thanks for the links norkily but they donot work for me maybe its because I'm abroad or maybe the website is down.

Macherie I like the style of the shoe but not the patent finish and its way over my budget too.

Oh well will keep searching any other good links appreciated.

these
I wonder if they are comfortable but I love the style

NorkilyChallenged · 23/05/2009 09:30

Ah okay - the kids are going crazy but I will do some other links later which will hopefully work now that I know!

leothelioness · 23/05/2009 10:53

these too
I am crap at deciding I want all of them plus loads of sandals.

Actually that first red pair you linked to are lovely.

I've tried to find some links that will work for you. Here are hte Josef Seibel mules, I had originally tried a link to a plain brown pair but these are quite nice. Not sure if you might think them a bit clumpy though? Or similar but different pattern and colours? Here are the plain ones but again, maybe too plain having seen the ones you like? All in your budget though.

Here is the Wolky stitch clog which is apparently amazingly comfy (gets good reviews everywhere and I love the colours but have never tried on). I think something like this would be super comfy for work all day but not sure it's your kind of thing. Bit over budget too. Saw some things on that same site though that you might like: here for example.

Am starting to salivate over shoes... gah! Hope you find something you like!

leothelioness · 23/05/2009 12:42

I love the one in the last link. Think the first 2 are funky too but I am a uk size 4 or 36 with a very narrow foot so I find that my feet seem to slide around in ones like these.

OP posts:
yama · 23/05/2009 14:35

Leothelioness - I have a few pairs of Fly London shoes/boots. Barring one pair they are the comfiest footwear I have ever owned.

I have a pair very similar to the ones you linked to (which I love and am considering for myself) and they are extremely comfortable.

leothelioness · 23/05/2009 14:49

ohh great to hear that yama I think I just gonna have one last nose around and then just order them.

OP posts:
leothelioness · 23/05/2009 14:54

these lovely ones decided to order a pair no the problem is which colour I love the red but think that the brown or black may be more nuteral and practical for work. Whihc one do you suggest.
