Is there such a thing as a cool rain mac?

Just borrowed DH's rain mac to do school run in downpour and looked like utter twat.
Is there such a thing as a nice looking rain mac material jacket with a hood for such ocassions?
Dont want to wear normal shapeless manky colour cag as top half will look like I'm going camping while bottom half will look normal/nice in skinny jeans etc...

oh yes, we have this thread at least once every six months

Do a search through archives, there where some really nice ones

I mostly wear my ski "shell" jacket (ie without heavy insulation) from North Face. It's a fitted shape and very funky looking and goes fine with skinny jeans etc. My hair & face stays dryer than in a conventional rain mac too because the hood comes further over/around as its designed for extreme snow conditions.

naomi83 · 18/05/2009 19:58

this? classic enough to last for years and justify the price...or much more reasonably priced and quite funky

sleepwhenidie · 18/05/2009 20:07

Boden do a showerproof one here if it is your type of thing. They also always do a properly waterproof one in every A/W range if you can wait.

Alternatively, invest in one of these - expensive but oh so chic and you'll never want/need another one !

littlerach · 18/05/2009 20:16

I have the Boden one from last year in green.

It is very nice, but need a size smaller really.

By the way, I spent almost a year searching for the elusive rain coat with a hood

macherie · 18/05/2009 20:36

I have a boden one from autumn which is the best I've found yet.

But, I got this for dd in the light blue, and it is so lovely, I'm thinking of getting this for me.

Of course I wouldn't be able to wear it at the same time as dd, as I don't think I could do the mother & daughter matching outfit thing

PM73 · 19/05/2009 08:06

I have a boden rainyday mac & its fab, nice & warm & the hood is large enought to keep all your hair dry, although they do come up big so go for a size smaller.

FabulousBakerGirl · 19/05/2009 08:13

when someone finds the cool rainmac, with hood, they will be Queen of MN.

fucksticks · 19/05/2009 12:16

I like the Boden one although do not generally like them and have never bought from them before - bit eeeeek at the price!!

Like the Next pacamac too and at £25 might be more realistic!!!

Thanks all x

InternationalFlight · 19/05/2009 13:19

Ah yes sorry it is a 10. It's pretty big on me and I'm between 10 & 12, but maybe best to get the right size.

tkband3 · 19/05/2009 13:25

I've just bought this one. I wasn't sure about it to start with (thought I might be a bit old for it ) but I've had loads of compliments on it.

I originally bought that spotty next one, but it looked blardy awful .

nappyaddict · 19/05/2009 14:05
