I tried on these in JL today and they seemed good but didn't have my size so I was going to buy online
Higher Power high waisted power brief

However when looking online I also found these
Hide & Sleek hi-rise smoother

I assume they are just more hardcore given they are twice the price? Are they worth the extra money?

I think the second ones are lighter and not as hardcore, actually, although I haven't personally tried them. I have the first ones and they are as hardcore as you can go short of a girdle

EldonAve · 14/05/2009 17:48

I didn't find them that hardcore although they were a bit of a challenge to get on

Felt fine once in them

What I meant was, I have tried quite a few different shaping pants and they are deffo the best, although I prefer the ones without the 'shorts' bit.

Thanks, I couldn't face trying on alternatives as I was shopping with 2 year old
Pleased to hear they are the best

I've got the top ones and they are great- very firm control. I can't really see why the second ones are double the price if they are only moderate control?! but then I've never tried the second ones.

Also - I have found that if you a mixed size i.e. 10/12 or 12/14 as opposed to a definite size 10 or 12 or 14 then I'd go for the smaller size in the spanx because you'll still get them on and they'll shrink you even more. Im a 10/12 and the small size spanx (I think called size A??) fits me perfectly although its advertised for an 8/10. Hope that makes sense!!??!!

Eldon - if you have a Debenhams near you they have 20% off at the mo' and may have them in your size?

littlelamb · 14/05/2009 19:49

Spanx are brilliant. BUT they have a huge seam up the middle which will show through if you wear anything too tight.

EldonAve · 14/05/2009 20:23

Thanks for the tips, the seam won't be an issue for my outfit thankfully

I will check out Debenhams
