DH and I decided last week that I'm not going back to work - yay!

However in the spirit of economising I've decided to give up my lovely Redken shampoo and conditioner and use something cheap.

My hair is between chin and shoulder length with a few layers and it's wavy with a tendency to frizz and making strange humps and lumps - help!

I love Palmolive shampoos and conditioners. You can buy it in Poundland believe it or not!

JRocks · 12/05/2009 17:43

I use MOP Organics, and it's been the best thing I've ever found

JRocks · 12/05/2009 17:44

Although thinking about it, it's not particularly cheap. Sorry! I've just found some cheaper shampoos to be a false economy with my hair.

Ignore my rambling

Fimbo · 12/05/2009 17:45

link to Palmolive

My DS has wavy hair with tendency to frizz too. We use John Frieda Curl Around shampoo & conditioner here and his hair is just fab now. It isn't truly cheap but must be cheaper than Redken

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 12/05/2009 18:52

oh and DS's hair is in long, surfy-boy style down to his chin

claireybee · 12/05/2009 19:01

I'd recommend a bar shampoo like lush or anita grant-they last forever

claireybee · 12/05/2009 19:02

Oh and Boots 59p conditioner is v good

lolaandned · 12/05/2009 20:16

i dont understand why you are economising because you are going back to work surely you will have more money than before?? go mad buy the conditioner etc too

lolaandned · 12/05/2009 20:18

oh right and ive just put on my specs and read the message and you are NOT going back to work soz for that...cringe with embaressment

jambutty · 12/05/2009 20:18

She's NOT going back to work.
I use Naked shampoo from Boots and I have shoulder length wavy/curly hair that goes lumpy.

jambutty · 12/05/2009 20:19

yes - what you said lolaandned

mooseloose · 12/05/2009 20:32

The alberto balsam is cheap and nice on my curly hair, but the conditioner is not a s good as it used to be. I think they changed the recipe?
The john frieda mosse nice, but I dont rate the shampoo and conditioner.

My hair like wire wool at the mo, none of my usual shampoos working, so I am watching thread with interest.

ZacharyQuack · 13/05/2009 00:02

My hair sounds similar to yours and I've been doing similar economising on products.

I like the L'Oreal Vive shampoos and conditioner, especially the one in the pink bottle, and have recently tried Garnier shampoo which seems nice and smells of apples. Garnier 'Melt-In Mask' conditioner just won a best product award in the Australian Marie Claire.

Ladies thank you, I am going into town tomorrow so I'll have a look at some of these in Boots. I'm pleased to see recommendations for the L'oreal and John Frieda as they are often on special offer!!

The Sunsilk range you can get in supermarkets, it is cheap as chips and FAB. They do a Curly range, and it's the only shampoo & conditioner that calms my frizz and it gives a gorgeous shine to my DDs as well.

They also do a serum in the curl range, which imo, is the best on the market. But I can't get it anymore. (If anyone spots it I will pay BIG bucks for it!) I've emailed them and they say they still make it, but no where here in Ireland seems to actually stock it.

It's often on BOGOF too.

Tresemme - brill!

Littledawley · 13/05/2009 08:34

I sometimes use tresemme which is great. If you really want to stick to your Redken though, you can buy it on E-bay in salon sizes, it works out loads cheaper. (£50 for shampoo and conditioner including postage)

mooseloose · 13/05/2009 11:10

I didn't like the tresemme. have used the almond and cocunut original source, and my hair is nice today!
