Hmm - can a pregnant woman wear maxi dresses without looking like an elephant?

I've a summer wedding in barcelona next month. I'll be 13 weeks pregnant, so will ahve a bit of a bump, and am a usual size 12, pear shape with short legs. If I buy one of those long floaty maxi dresses that are all over the shops - will I look relaxed and lovely, or just fat and bottom heavy? Will it make my bump just look like fat, I guess is what I am wondering...

I think it will look nice

I think they are a good shape if you have a bit of a tummy/bump.

I've done maxi dresses in both this pregnancy and my last one... I think it looks good. Hides puffy knees if you have 'em, too!! (I have )

I saw a picture of Nicole Ritchie pregnant in a strapless maxi dress with gold flat strappy sandals on the other day and she looked fab. I plan to emulate that look in the summer!

I've tried on about 3000 maxi dresses between about 20 weeks pg and now 32 weeks pg.

I had given up after the first 1000 but tried again after seeing Nicole. No change.

Sorry, maybe you will look better than I did.

I wore one last summer when pregnant with second DD and I thought it looked OK, (maybe other's thought I looked like a elephant tho!) I got a green patterned non maternity one from Top Shop which was quite clingy and I wore out at about 20wks. I think clingy clothes that emphasise your bump look better than tents to try to cover it!

I am a bit pear shaped and I found that when pregnant the bump made my bum look smaller and my legs look longer whch pleased me a lot. Also my boobs increased a lot in size, which also balanced me out!

I didn't have maxi dresses as such, but was happy with the effect of long skirts (size 18 and quite tall)

I wore a halterneck (good for balancing pear shape) maxi dress that had a bit of stretch & cling to it last summer whilst pregnant. It looked damn good, though I say it myself. Go ahead & try it out, could well work for you too.
