Any recommendations on hair colours for green eyes. i have mousy brown hair with some golden highlights but feel a bit washed out at the moment. thank you

I look washed out too,and I have green eyes,so I will be watching with interest..

LupusinaLlamasuit · 11/05/2009 23:28

Well, depends on your skin tone. If you're very pale and vaguely blueish, then you could go deep dark black.

But most green eyed people are kind of Celtic looking in one way or another. So the only real option is red tones: mahogany, ginger, hot fire enging red, strawberry blonde if you're very pale etc...

Marthasmama · 11/05/2009 23:31

My eyes always look the brightest when I dye my hair red, dark red. I have green/blue/hazel eyes BTW. In fact, I need to dye my hair too. I lightened it and it looks rubbish! Oh, or violet/black looks good too, like violet eye shadow with green eyes.

hellymelly · 11/05/2009 23:39

Well I can't speak for the op but I am a bit old and knackered for violet/black,although I wish I'd tried it when I was younger,it looks amazing on Suzy Bick.

LupusinaLlamasuit · 11/05/2009 23:46

Yes. Suzi Bick lovely. I tried it once but being mostly very pale shades of yellow, I just looked cadaverous. You need to be translucent to pull it off.

foxy1 · 11/05/2009 23:53

yes you need to have perfect skin for very dark hair as it can highlight flaws. i have uneven skin tone with flushed cheeks and in my mid thirties.

Well I was translucent, before I had babies, now I am just exhausted and washed out so I think black would make me look older.but like the op I am a bit bored of highlights and would like a lovely colour.I have greeny/blue/hazel eyes and pale skin and light brown hair with a redish/fair slant.very celtic. But too dull at the mo.

mrsblanc · 11/05/2009 23:55

dye your hair green?

CherryChoc · 12/05/2009 00:00

I have green eyes. I like a nice deep reddy sort of brown colour.

Like this but darker - ie without the golden highlights near the bottom.

CherryChoc · 12/05/2009 00:02

Oh sorry - left that while we ate and came back to click post! Will try and find a nice pic to put on profile.

(Yes I know we eat at odd times....)

hellymelly · 12/05/2009 00:06

You may laugh mrs blanc but I did dye my hair green, many moons ago and it was the most flattering colour I've ever had but it was well,GREEN,so I washed it out again.
I am not creamy enough for proper red hair,it makes me look a funny colour,I am pink white.I love the look of the colour cherrychoc linked to but it wouldn't suit me-foxy 1,what are you thinking of?

mrsblanc · 12/05/2009 00:13

hellymelly

I have green eyes and pale skin.
I use nice n easy shade 120. Looks pretty good

hellymelly · 12/05/2009 00:16

Oh thanks! I am going to check that out.in fact I am going to write it down.Last time I had any colour done I threw wads of cash at it and went to John Frieda but I have been thinking of doing it at home,I was just worried about messing it up.

CherryChoc · 12/05/2009 00:19

I can't dye my own hair - I tried once and just got the dye all over my ears - then again I am style challenged. I can barely work a hairdryer (not exaggerating here)

CherryChoc · 12/05/2009 00:20

PS 2 pics up. Not v good as you can't see my eyes though.

mrsblanc · 12/05/2009 00:30

another tip. My hair is shoulder length and going very grey. I dye it about every 3 weeks but only use HALF the pack contents each time , saving the second half for next time. I put it on the grey roots for 20 min then comb through and leave in another ten

You will need to use the whole pack the first time, then keep the squeezy bottle for next time when you can start using half packs.

Also nice n easy is an excellent thick consistency and does not drip like others I have used.

WowOoo · 12/05/2009 07:52

My hairdresser advised highlights. Not blonde but gold , some reddy tones and something else I don't remember, perhaps another copper or blondish tone. he said it would bring the green out in my eyes.

I haven't got them yet as it's quite pricey!

Love changing hair colour, gives me such a boost. Hope it looks lovely whatever you go for!

fishie · 12/05/2009 08:49

foxy it sounds as though you need something blue based not yellow based, hence the golden highlights are not doing you any favours. i am similar and use this sorry no pics but very good description of how it works.

i use the burgundy red and yes i am rather pinky, but is up to you to determine strength. also it doesn't dye your skin so you will not get purple ears! i even did it without gloves once (wouldn't recommend that it took a while to come off).

geordieminx · 12/05/2009 08:55

this is the colour that you need I have green eyes and fairly dark skin but everyone says this colour is fab - even hairdresser reckons its better than the salon could do.

foxy1 · 12/05/2009 13:59

great ideas everyone. love them all. want haircolour that will flatter and make me look younger .

Yes so do I ! By the way Cherrychoc your pics are lovely-that top you are wearing while pregnant is really pretty and your baba is gorgeous.

CoteDAzur · 12/05/2009 22:04

Dark hair brings out green eyes.

Actually, best is purple eye shadow.
