Urgen help needed - wedding outfit needed but not actually going as a guest of wedding!

Ok quick post as I need to hop in the car and take DP somewhere.

On sat (!!!) I'm going to a wedding but I'm not going as a 'guest'. I'm going as a paid nanny; I have to look after one child during the ceremony and then during the reception will be working with some other nannies running a creche for about 16 other children.

I'm 5ft 2, chunky arms, dont mind a bit of leg out but tights would be preferable. Good calves bad things, 36D chest, slimish waist with some help. Paleish skin, dark hair, hazel eyes.

Outfit must be practical as need to run around after children but I dont want to stand out as a leper during the ceremony! Small budget as don't want to get anything £££ ruined. No messy crafty things going on in creche.

Do have some amzingly comfortable (sort of wedge) heels, black that I would like to wear as I often wear them to work and know I can work in them. shoes here Am good in heels though so am open on this.

Hit me up ladies! TIA

I would wear black trousers and a plainish coloured or white top
But i am the last person you should be taking style advice from

Clure · 07/05/2009 22:24

how about this will go with your shoes, petite good for your height, you could jazz it up with a little cardi or shrug in a bright colour, not too expensive.

or this? still go with shoes, cover up tops of arms, bit of shape

navyeyelasH · 07/05/2009 23:01

thanks guys - stealth in black trews I'd feel a bit caterish if that makes sense? Plus it will show snot up a treat!

Clure, not keen on the first dress seems like something my mum would wear to salsa, second dress a definate contender. Thanks very much both.

Anyone else with any other suggestions??

Definitely wouldn't go for the gray. This is a similar style but the colour lifts it a little

Or this might be good with a white cardi type thing and it's v. versatile. You sound the right shape for 50s style

Patterned is good, as you rightly point out plain shows up stains - floral is safe for a wedding Here or maybe here or v. pretty and tempted by it myself and this one too

frannikin · 08/05/2009 11:09

All of the above with a cardi btw - but you've probably headed off shopping already!

navyeyelasH · 08/05/2009 13:23

frannikin I wish I has headed of shopping I am in work until 5pm toay. Luckily charge is asleep for the next 2 hours or so, so oing to have a quick online browse and do a mad frantic shop tonight after work!

Just looking at your links, ta very much!

Great links frannikin, I've tried the forst red herring one on before and the green colour is really weird in it, it's like a whie that has had green run into it, really odd. I might just go to debenhams and see what other colours they have as that syle fo dress really seems to suit me.

The second 50s one also looks good but would be worried about my hips but will give it a go this eve. The blossom print dress has a funny neck line for me, it will be a serious cleavage on dsplay job! then the other ivory rose print one i love but would be worried the neck line is too high! Goign to try it on though and see.

Not really keen on the blue and black print ones, they seem more summer dressish to me.

What do you think of this one here am thinking with maybe coloured tights? Or bright cardi?

Also found this but not sure if I can wear green, think it needs a tan? i really love this one but again I fear it will be too booby? Also loks like it's out of stock!

So bloody hard!!

[[http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Warehouse+Tropical+palm+print+dress+with+pockets/123146232,default, pd.html?cgid=0357 could I wear this with some sort of coloured tights and black shoes]? Know it's £££ but would wear again!

so the frantic search this eve was a bust, nothing was nice on. I am going to do debenhams etc first thing in the morning!

As time is short have been looking online and have compiled a short list. Any thoughts on this dress. I like it but how do I make it more colourful? Could I do a black tights black show combo do you think?

OP posts:
navyeyelasH · 08/05/2009 22:29

OP posts:
pippo · 08/05/2009 22:32

navyeyelasH · 08/05/2009 22:39

what sort of colour are you thinking pippo? Teal? I'm not sure what will look nice! Thanks for the response btw am pulling me hair out here

OP posts:
pippo · 08/05/2009 23:20

try with black tights and see what it looks like, sorry not much use am I
Tis a difficult time of year weather wise

Clure · 08/05/2009 23:22

Really like the fc dress
shrug
wedges

navyeyelasH · 10/05/2009 13:25

In the end I bought this dress, and this shrug and already had these shoes. Swapped the shoes for same coloured flats for after the ceremony and it turned out to be a really lovely wedding.

Thanks for all the help xx
