I bought a gorgeous dress on ebay (am skint) and got it yesterday. For many reasons, it is HORRIBLE on and I'm going to have to resell it.

I would like to find something that is pretty but quite striking (wedding is in the US- San Diego) and summery.

I am 5ft 10in, size 14/16 (athletic rather than slim in shape iyswim) and rather big in the chest (38DD).

I can't/ won't do backless and would rather not do thin straps. Also would like it not to be too short or too long- about knee length maybe (sorry to be so prescriptive but they are very religious/ modest).

Am totally depressed about the whole thing. Please help

Have you had a look at Monsoon? Some gorgeous dresses, quite summery and pretty and lots of knee length dresses with decent wide straps.

Coast

Designers at Debenhams

Monsoon

French Connection

this is v reasonable and you could dress it up? has good reviews!

pippo · 07/05/2009 11:29

If you are going to buy anything else from ebay I would make sure that you know the fit and cut of items from that shop iyswim to give a fighting chance of it fitting.

Also could you borrow anything?

naomi83 · 07/05/2009 11:30

do you have to have shoulders covered too?

mishymoo · 07/05/2009 11:32

This looks lovely from Next

alicecrail · 07/05/2009 11:34

That one from pippo is lovely, a really good shape. It may seem mad, but look at joules, they have some lovely dresses, in summery colours and prints that are very reasonable (I can't do links - sorry)

TheGoat · 07/05/2009 11:34

here looks perfect

TheGoat · 07/05/2009 11:36

this one is prob. too big but nice

naomi83 · 07/05/2009 11:42

classy? can be worn with a shrug if you need more coverage, this is also nice and would get used for other occasions

stunning but pricey

could you maybe buy a skirt that you love and will rewear and match it with a simple, plain top?

shootfromthehip · 07/05/2009 11:50

Thanks all- gutted about the dress I bought here but unfortunately I didn't check what the back looked like- there isn't one , and my boobs won't allow for a bra that isn't iron clad.

I really like the one that pippo put up but was looking for something that I could wear on a night out afterwards too(prom dressy maybe?).

Don't want much do I?

Something like this maybe?

shootfromthehip · 07/05/2009 12:12

steamed that is gorgeous and I love that it comes with a wee cardi. It's a halterneck which is risky though. Will investigate some more.

Thanks

I have never used this company someone on here recommended it, but I always fancy it and think it's quite reasonable.....
