Does anyone go for regular facials/massages/pedicures/manicures?

I have treated myself in the past to all of the above but never on a regular basis. I go for the usual eyebrow wax and get my hair coloured every six weeks.

Is it a very WAG thing to do?

I have been watching "Real Houswives" on Diva TV and they all have kids, jobs shit loads of money and homes to look after yet are at some kind of salon constantly.

So it got me thinking is it a money or time issue?

With me it's both.

never had any of them

I have acrylic nails so have to have infills every 3 weeks.
My own nails are so brittle and weak that I like having nails to show off. The only girlie thing about me!
It's my little treat, 'Me' time as I am a single parent and doesn't cost a fortune.

I was bought a massage as a present when I was pregnant, it seems very self-indulgent. I can't imagine spending money on it, there always seems better things to spend it on. Wax my own eyebrows, colour my own hair, have it cut when absolutely necessary.

Call me slovenly.

myredcardigan · 06/05/2009 19:20

I think for most people it is both.

I go regularly. Waxings once a month, pedicure and manicure monthly in winter, fortnightly in summer. Facials about 4 times a year.

I work p/t and it's nice having those 2days where DS is at school, and DD1&2 are in nursery.

I have to say it's only recently become regular when I becamedone and dusted with childbirth and started to get my life back. And I'm so far removed from yummy mummy it's ridiculous. Just makes me feel nice.

Yep that's what I mean about most of us considering all those things to be a treat but are there people who factor in these things as "essential"?

I would love to have them all on a monthly basis because I think it would add to my well being.

As it stands I will carry on watching the diva housewives and keep wishing ha ha!

I have regular massages about every 4-6 weeks
When pg and working I had one a week!

myredcardigan · 06/05/2009 19:24

Well I think it really does add to my sense of wellbeing. After a massage I feel so relaxed and it really lifts my spirits.

But of course,I'm lucky in that it's not a problem financially. It would of course be one of the first things to go as nobody could argue it was essential. Though something tells me DH would still find £40 a month to have me waxed!

I do have regular facials/massages/pedicures/manicures and various other treatments.

My Mum owns a few beauty salons so I don't have to pay and I always manage to find the time to go down and have stuff done so on that basis I would say it is a money issue.

I think I would find the money if I did have to pay as they really make me feel good and help me to relax and have time to properly switch off.

I love a massage but while we are not on the bones of our arses, things are a bit tight financially at the moment. I have Fridays free when my dd's go to nursery and that's when I usually do the eyebrow wax and hair thing (not every week I hasten to add!) but I always want more pampering!

My local salon had half price decleor facials last year and I had 2 in 2 weeks.

I agree that massages are really good for lifting your spirits.

Yes , I have a job I love but it can be stressful, a massage helps. I have awful feet so a pediucure is a must. Eyebrow waxing is not expensive and a manicure is a treat but something I may do every once in a while.

newgirl · 06/05/2009 19:34

i have eyebrows shaped every few weeks

i also get facials fairly regularly - maybe every two months?

do my own hair removal, nail stuff - don't think that's very tricky or time-consuming so prefer to do it at home than pay someone else

lambanana · 06/05/2009 19:42

Yep I do hair removal myself, shape and paint my nails every week.

I had a pedicure when heavily pregnant with dd2 which I was really pleased with (after dh's attempt at hacking cutting my toenails)! The midwife who delivered her even commented on the lovely nail varnish!

Ewe - I am very jealous!

I have found this brilliant college where trainee beuaticians give unbelievably cheap treatments as part of their assessments - so I go for pedicure/ manicure once every few weeks in the summer months

Apart from that just eyebrow/ eyelash tint once a month as they are really fair. I go to 'proper' salon for that though - it is just too risky to hand your eyebrows over to a trainee!

GossipMonger · 06/05/2009 19:51

We are having a PTA Pamper Night for the school on Friday.

Have never had my eyebrows done before so am booking for that.

Am also having a manicure.

£5 each treatment which is a bargain.

This sort of thing is not really me but I am supporting the school and I am running the DONATIONS ONLY TUSCAN WINE TABLE which should be a larf!!!

lambanana · 06/05/2009 20:01

Philo/Gossip they both sound fab!

I might give the local college a ring and offer my gone to seed sylphlike body!
