I need a Salwar Kameez in size 22

Hi all. Am going to an Indian themed evening here in Budapest on 23 May. I want to wear a Salwar Kameez and have been browsing Ebay. There was one seller who was supposed to be away until 5th May but now seems to be away until 22nd which is too late. I found one nice one on an American site but it would cost 100 US including postage and then I found another one but it would be 180 US!!!! A bit much for one night.

Anyone any ideas? I have looked on-line but have had no luck really.

I suppose really I am asking if any kind MNer would be willing to look for a nice one for me and then they could tell me how much, I could post a cheque and then once cheque is received they could post to me. I don't have Paypal.

would you wear a sari instead?? just as nice, and easier to fit for larger ladies perhaps???

Buda · 10/05/2009 16:48

stitchtime - that would be very kind but I think there probably would not be enough time.

cass66 - I may do. Am a bit afraid of that option though!

i can ask her
tbh, the main think would be the post. i'm sure it wouldnt take more than three or four days to get it made

can you wear a sari? when i was pregnant, i always preferred sari's as the only bit you need to worry about fitting you properly is the blouse bit.

Buda · 10/05/2009 21:18

How hard is a sari if you are not used to it? I am worried about looking like a large awkward thing!

if you are not used to it, then i would reccomend not handling any kids, and no dancing, particularly no drunken dancing otherwise, if someone who knows how to put it on does it for you, and you have lots of safetyy pins, well, one at least, then you should be fine.

If you are having it made, can I suggest you send them your chest measurements. I wore a beautiful one to a wedding kindly provided by the bride and whilst the lower half was a perfect fit, the top was so tight I had to take my bra off to flatten my bust, it was a scorching hot day & it was a good job the seems held out! The woman who fitted us said Asian women were smaller busted than most Europeans.

stitchtime · 10/05/2009 23:08

heated, that sounds like crap/ ... the woman who made your outfit should have insisted on your measurements... instead of trying to blame her incompetence on racial stereotypes.

Buda - if you know which one you want from that website I'm happy to order it for you and send it out to you in Budapest (you seemed the reliable type from our meeting at the Xmas party!). You can paypal me the money?

Let me know if I can help!

Buda · 11/05/2009 10:24

Norky! Would you really? You are as nice as your name suggests!

Am not sure I seemed that reliable - I do remember waking up with a reliable hangover though!

I don't have paypal though so would have to send you a cheque. Would that be OK?

The suit I liked is this one. It would have to be size XXL.

Yes sure - I'll order it now if you like?

Shipping is 4.50 to me, so total will be 21.75

I think you should be able to CAT me your address - I'll send you my name/address for the cheque in return!

Buda · 11/05/2009 11:16

Fab Norky! You are a star!

I wonder what postage to here will be? I'll add extra to cover that.

Email me your address at budamn at gmail dot com and then I can email you back.

OP posts:
NorkyButNice · 11/05/2009 11:54

Oh yes, I forgot postage to you!

You can wait till I've posted it to you to send the cheque, then we'll know the cost.

I'll do the order in a couple of minutes.

NorkyButNice · 11/05/2009 12:45

Buda - it's ordered!

I'll drop you an email in a bit.

Buda · 11/05/2009 12:52

Thanks! you are a star!

Stitch, no she didn't make the clothing, she was actually the make-up lady helping the female wedding party get ready, Asian herself & not, I think, making a racist slur but just making an observation to which there was a lot of good natured banter. Since I didn't go to India to have the clothes fitted, mine was a standard sized set, rather than individual pieces - the point I make is a good one, as what is one size here does not always follow in the US, Europe or in India so it's worth checking.

stitchtime · 12/05/2009 11:14

yes, i guess that is true. re different clothes sizes beng the norm
