Hi, I'm trying to chose a dress for my 4 year old daughter for my sisters wedding.

These are the ones I like so far.

www.prettyoriginals.com/2bgal2/disp_img.php?id_img=2521

and this one, but not sure if it's special enough.

www.joulesclothing.com/product/Girls%5FDresses/G_JNRCROQUET.htm

With the jules dress, I love the little mouse pumps to go with it.

What do you think? she is very tall for her age, she has long auburn hair and very blue eyes. (if that helps)

sorry, would love to have a vote but I can't open either of those links

Heated · 03/05/2009 18:40

Couldn't see the first one, access denied.

Joules one pretty but not wow imo.

pooka · 03/05/2009 18:41

Can't see the first link.

But dd wore a joules croquet dress to a wedding last year and looked lovely (was 5 at the time). It was the one with a fifties seaside scene print. Gorgeous, with the sash was lovely.

Heated · 03/05/2009 18:41

But love the pumps!

KingCanuteIAm · 03/05/2009 18:41

I love the joules one, with the shoes

I can't open the other one though!

nancy75 · 03/05/2009 18:41

the jules dress is ok, cant open the other link.
i thought you already got her a dress? the dress that you linked to on your looking for shoes thread was nicer.

SlightlyMadSwineFlu · 03/05/2009 18:42

not keen on Joukes one personally. Can't see the first.

Personally I want somone to get married because believe it or niot Tesco have a couple of gorgeouss weddingy dresses in

mummyloveslucy · 03/05/2009 18:42

Oh. I can open then on my computer.
It might be because the pretty originals site needs a pass word. I know the pass word if that would help.

Hi, the dress I ordered from I love gorgeous,is far too see through. My daughter has a few problems and is still in nappies, and you could clearly see them through the material. I also worried about it snagging/ ripping, as it's so fine.

It's a shame no one can open the first, as that is much nicer imop.

My dd has the Joules one - she is nearly 4, tall, blue-eyed redhead just like your dd, and looks lovely in it.

I want to see the other though!

nancy75 · 03/05/2009 18:50

have you tried john lewis? i think i probably dress my dd quite similar to yours and this year have bought quite a few things from john lewis
i have bought
www.johnlewis.com/22300/Product.aspx
and
www.johnlewis.com/22298/Product.aspx
bot h are much nicer in real life than they look here and both quite cheap.

PolkSaladLucie · 03/05/2009 18:51

Yeah. The first site wants a password.

can you not just get a little slip to go under the first dress you bought? Or maybe get some pretty knickers to go over the nappies?

I do like the joules dress. Is it the spotty style or stripy?

nancy75 · 03/05/2009 18:51

sorry, rubbish at this
www.johnlewis.com/22300/Product.aspx
and
www.johnlewis.com/22298/Product.aspx

i have seen the joules one in a shop, wasnt too keen on the feel of the material.

mummyloveslucy · 03/05/2009 18:52

If you go to www.prettyoriginals.com
then click on designer collection,

The user name is: public and the pass word is: lemon

Then go to infants/ juniors then girls then smocked.

It's on the 3rd page, top middle.

I am pretty unimpressed by ilovegorgeous. Would your dd like to choose for herself? Which would she like?

PolkSaladLucie · 03/05/2009 18:54

My sister just bought this for my neice to wear to my daughter's baptism...

the strawberry one

Could poss still wear the mouse pumps with the yellow version?

PolkSaladLucie · 03/05/2009 18:58

Not mad keen on the pretty originals one - it's a bit too detailed for me, but a four year old girl probably has different tastes than me!

nancy75 · 03/05/2009 18:59

i think the pretty originals one is abit young, i love smocking dresses and dressed dd in them alot when she was smaller, she is also 4 and i think she looks too old for then now.

Heated · 03/05/2009 18:59

That was a trek! Yes, it's really lovely. I like the top right one on the same page even more though, but either would be stunning.

TheFallenMadonna · 03/05/2009 19:00

I would second John Lewis. They have some lovely dresses in at the moment, and cheaper than Boden/Joules/Monsoon.

SlightlyMadSwineFlu · 03/05/2009 19:01

You can get straight to teh dress in the first link with the password posted.

Sadly I personally don't like it either. Unless your DD is a v v girly girl I just think it is too fussy anf frilly.

mummyloveslucy · 03/05/2009 19:05

Yes, she is very girly and lady like. She'd love it!

OP posts:
Podrick · 03/05/2009 19:05

I like the Pretty Originals dress although it does also remind me of the wedding scene in Nanny McPhee!

ShowOfHandsNoLongerKissesKunes · 03/05/2009 19:11

First one looks far too young, frilly and fussy.

Second one is okay.

Neither are brilliant.

mummyloveslucy · 03/05/2009 19:16

Well, I'm glad I asked you lot.

I don't want people to think Oh my god when they see her.
