A place we can meet and encourage each other to buy needless but gorgeous dresses?

too tempted

Gosh you are quick
love it, but too glamorous for me
would love this for the UK wedding, but as I said, I should recycle what I have... or not?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/05/2009 11:07

This is going to keep bothering me, is that an errant ' in the thread title?

Now back to the serious business off frocks...(off to hunt)

Penthe, the birger etc dress is lovely, but not sure it's good for my shape.

I've also been meaning to ask, how to you find the courage to buy off the internet? Can you send it back if it doesn't fit? I've never been brave enough. I also don't think it's in the Italian DNA to buy clothes off the internet. We love to be bullied by snobbish shop assistants

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:09

is this too short for a witness? I love the colour

Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:11

'fraid so, DWP. It's a crime against pedantry! I let it slide...

Ok... What are your stats, franca (oo-er ).

LOL at being bullied!! I know my stats (bust-waist-hips), and check it against the size/fit guide that they post. 75% of the time it's completely accurate (and it it "runs large" I buy down, etc). Plus, Onenet and NAP have a great returns service, but perhaps it's easier in the UK?

Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:12

Wow - that is a beautiful colour.

Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:14

That blue Issa gown is DROOLSOME, franca. Why is it too elegant? You pull off what you pull off, IYSWIM. You could dress it down with a more casual pair of sandals and chunky jewellery, I should think. DWP is good at accessorising... What do you think?

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:15

I think there might, yes DWP
drools

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/05/2009 11:16

Oh the philosophy one is gorgeous

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:16

Ahhh - you mentioned that Chloe dress before. You've seen it in the flesh, no?

Go on, buy a new dress. Recycling is very worthy and all, but you have a perfectly valid excuse (2 of them in fact) to buy a lovely new gown. Hooray!

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:17

It's gorgeous, isn't it? Too glamorous, I don't know why, I can't see myself looking too glamorous. Weird isn't it? I know my fashion very well, but can't get past the jeans and new balance combo

Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:18

Holy shit! Could you afford that philosophy one? If so... GET IT!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/05/2009 11:18

aaaaah

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:21

Like that Temperley one, but without sleeves, you'd have to find a wrap or bolero to keep warm, if necessary...

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:23

Of course I can't afford it! ...

I love the Temperley dress!!!!! it's even more expensive!

Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:25

No Temperley reduced to only £420!

Seriously, though: you mentioned that Chloe floral dress before, so obviously you like it... Have you tried it on in-store.

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:25

OK, lets be realistic here. I suppose I can stretch to a budget of around 400 euros. Do you think the see by chloe one is right for a "witness"?????????????????

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:27

I'm going to go and try the chloe one in store next week. Or I could wait for the sales in July

Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:28

Which one - the floral one you mentioned before, or the one I linked to from the Outnet?

Either would look fab for a witness, I think (unless the bride is going for a full on meringue of a dress herself, in which case you would you look too cool and elegant beside her and should probably opt for a shocker of a dress too! ).

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:29

But I'd look great in the philosophy one

Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:29

Well, you're being sensible or boring to wait... IF you think it'll still be there... That would suck ass big time if it wasn't in the sale.

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:31

Yes, I love both, will have a look at what they got in store.

Penthesileia · 08/05/2009 11:31

Ok guys.

Non dress related issue.

My poor neglected DD, who is amusing herself playing with my spongebag, has just repeatedly hit the keyboard and somehow made it so that I can't see the google bar or address bar or anything on the page, so I can't close the page, IYSWIM. How do I undo this?

francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2009 11:32

penthe, you are evil. But you are right, this is an enabler thread, you shouldn't convince me to wait for the sales
