And I can't find what I'm looking for anywhere!

Here is my criteria:

They preferably need to cover my manky toes

They need to be comfy because I have a ten minute walk to and from the car

Neutral tones preferred - not black

Smart but a bit funky too if poss (I don't wear suits to work, usually flowery colourful skirts and a smart top, think White Stuff and that's more or less me)

Not too high - but not those slip on flatties either as they always come off my feet

OK?

Heeeeeeelp!!!

Please go to a chiropodist and have your "manky toes" dealt with .

chequersmate · 01/05/2009 08:42

Um, I saw some nice Hush Puppies ones - think they may have been black though, will look.

PuppyMonkey · 01/05/2009 08:45

I have Bonsoir - it's just corns on my little toes, not leprosy or anything. they keep coming back though no matter what I do and I prefer not to have them on show to the world if poss.

By some Birkenstocks (Gizehs) to wear whenever possible (ie not at work) so that nothing rubs on your little toes.

Can you wear ballet flats? They are good for toe disguisal.

chequersmate · 01/05/2009 08:47

Birkenstocks.

chequersmate · 01/05/2009 08:49

Was these - they look better on than in this pic, only come in black or red though so probably not suitable.

Very comfy though, but not comfortable, if you get what I mean.

PuppyMonkey · 01/05/2009 08:49

Is it bad that I don't know what Birkenstocks are...

I wear very comfy shoes out of work, Clarks springer trainer things. Or my slippers at home. I'm not a ballet flat type of girl, those shoes always just slip off when I walk.

Birkenstocks are the ugly, bright coloured sandals that Guardian readers where PM.

chequersmate · 01/05/2009 08:52

wear

BonsoirAnna · 01/05/2009 08:52

I have these in silver - they are fabulous for keeping your feet in great shape and look great with jeans, summer trousers, summer dresses etc for running around the house/shops etc.

PuppyMonkey · 01/05/2009 08:52

Chequers... I do wish they were brown, they are quite nice.

I'm about as far from a Guardian reader as it is possible to be! I wear my Gizehs with my very unGuardiany Marni, Paul & Joe, Sofie d'Hoore etc wardrobe here in central Paris

BonsoirAnna · 01/05/2009 08:54

Those Hush Puppies are truly frumpy!!!!

PuppyMonkey · 01/05/2009 08:55

Thanks Bonsoir, but can't do toe thongs either as they hurt me. God, i'm such a fuss pot.

Thanks guys. Have to do some work now so will be back later.

Calm down Anna, they're only shoes

BonsoirAnna · 01/05/2009 08:57

Look at the other models of Birkenstocks - silver Madrids would be nice too.

chequersmate · 01/05/2009 08:57

Seriously ugly shoes though. Do you really wear those? In central Paris of all places?

BonsoirAnna · 01/05/2009 08:59

I don't think they are ugly at all! They give you a great walk (because they are so comfortable) and because they are big, they balance out the silhouette esp. if you have wide shoulders as I do.

These are cute:

Not too high, good support from t-bar, would work as a neutral with most things

Thanks all for your suggestions and the information on Birkenstocks! Ruby, I think I love you... they are just about it!!! I'd tried Clarks and not seen them.

Apols to anyone who finds them too frumpy or whatever! They won't be frumpy on me as I will make them fabulous with what I wear with them.

fly london - yuna. sorry can't do links, but they are absolutely what you have been looking for, trust me!

mrsmaidamess · 01/05/2009 23:53

I started a thread about my new shoes, no bugger replied, but they are veh comfy and don't show too much toe

missblythe · 02/05/2009 09:57

Very glad for you, MrsM!

It was me that linked to them. May have to buy some myself now. Because if there's one thing I need above all else, it's more flip-flopppy sandals.
