Has anyone seen any gorgeous bright 'dress to impress' dresses?

Need a dress for a 'dress to impress' party.
Am thinking something bright, perhaps multi coloured.
Am short with big boobs and little waist. I think prom style type dresses suit me...
Have small budget, so am thinking Dorothy Perkins/Topshop rather than £££££!

Would be absolutely ideal if I could find something that I could wear again to SIL's wedding in July!

Any ideas?

This Warehouse dress is pretty.

This Dorothy Perkins dress is a great bright colour and now only £15.00. Only sizes 14 and 16 left online though.

Blue floral dress at Miss Selfridge.

This one is so pretty.

£14.00!

abour £70 iir and lovely. Lovely style BUT sadly im inbetween sides and the 12 was just a tad to small but the 14 to big .

IheartNY · 27/04/2009 20:50

its this one and in loads of lovely bright colours. .

This turquoise one looks lovely .

shhhh · 27/04/2009 20:52

btw, the oasis ones I am thinking of buying one in a 12 and keeping it with an aim of getting to goal weight come June when we also have a wedding to attend.!

I thought they were devine for a night out and even nicer for a summer wedding. .

BTW,depends on fit you like, the 12 imo was a fit for me BUT "fitted" yet the 14 was looser and more imo for everyday iykwim...

I prefer when going out to wear fitted BUT still be able to breathe .

Amandoh · 28/04/2009 10:06

Love the turquoise one!

Shhhh ~ Did you try the dress on? I'm just wondering what sort of length it would be on someone of 5'4".

shhhh · 30/04/2009 21:30

Sorry for delay amandoh but not been online for few days..

Yes, I tried on about 5 colours...allfit differently as different fabrics, silk (type) linen etc...
Must admit they did look devine on (did opt with the 12 which was more fitted..but decied against..)

Im 4ft 11 and the length was perfect for me. Up to my knee iir...think they are more of a mini dress...go in store and try them, honestly you will love them..

Amandoh · 01/05/2009 22:27

Sadly I think the dress would be too short on me. My legs aren't bad but I wouldn't wear a dress any higher than knee length.

I wonder if a couple of weeks in Stepford Wife mode would persuade DP to part with the money for this.

I'm loving this at the moment. Its way expensive but I have a school reunion next month and wondering if this LBD will do the trick.

Wonder if there's anything similar that is cheaper still?

If you are anywhere near the Oxford Street Topshop it might be worth having a look. I don't think they put everything on-line (? Is that true?) and I do think it's the sort of thing they knock off with great aplomb. (I bought a brilliant tulip dress there about two years ago that everyone thinks is really expensive but cost £30.)

LetThemEatCake · 01/05/2009 22:40

Clure - definitely, perfect for a school reunion. But with fuschia heels, to give it some ooomph.

£75 is pricey in £££ terms, but in terms of something you'll get loads of wear out of. That dress will last you years

LetThemEatCake · 01/05/2009 22:41

sorry Clure, meant to say "not in terms of something you'll get loads of wear out of"

OllieWollieWoo · 01/05/2009 23:02

This is similar to Shhhh's link but has a scoop back and in a brightish purple. Thought it was lovely (like sleevs and front detail) - but no idea what body shape it would suit as only seen it online!

that oasis dress ollie was really lovely

ConnieComplaint · 02/05/2009 21:01

this might be a bit bright, but my sister bought it last week & wore it out tonight.

She had class blue shoes (new look) and bag to match & she looked great!

It's a tad too bright for my liking, but it really looked good on. She's 5ft & it was perfect length.

Clure · 02/05/2009 21:03

Connie I LOVE that monsoon dress. Not sure I have the pins to carry off. Having said that I'm just a bit over 5 ft so maybe it would be "just the right length" on me 2!!!

snigger · 02/05/2009 21:07

Of all places, I got this from Boden and got 20% off, making it £52.

It's v. comfortable, and I'm a bit breasty but DH assures me I don't look harlotty

ConnieComplaint · 02/05/2009 21:10

I think these are the shoes she got, they're a perfect match.
